I'm trying to figure out if this is a dust issue or a bad light engine /optics block. I also have the blue spots through out the field and blue line at the bottom. This I know is and optic block/ light engine issue. can you please advise
I had a very similar problem with mine... You are correct, it is the optic block.. it will cost about a $1000 or so to fix. I chose to fix my 60" because I absolutely love these TVs. The Technology may be older but they are still great!!!!! (i.e. Instant Picture...no refresh rate required!!!)
If you think you also have a dust issue just get a vacuum cleaner and clean the vents on the back of your TV. You can also remove the Front Panel... take out the lamp (make sure your TV is COLD!!!...trust me on this) and vacuum what you can making sure you do not touch the back mirrors (located where your lamp goes in). You should do this every time you change the lamp at a minimum.
