Wiper blade for powerhead in handle is broken - how to disassemble handle to repair?
Hi There, Alec From VacuumSpot here. I work as a vacuum technician and unfortunately I am the bearer of bad news the handle is not really repairable. Even in warranty Electrolux allowed us to simply swap the hose over in favour of any repair. If you need to buy a new Z8240 hose the part number is 1131404541.

Inside ,the dust collection container, there at the far end is a white cone shape (another filter). I think you may find this covered in lint etc and if you reach in with your hand you can just pull the stuff off. Happened to me around the two month mark and I THINK, so far, so good. My machine is now not switching off and flashing lights at me and the suction is back to fabulous. Found this information on another obsure website. You would think electrolux would mention it in their "Troubleshooting Guide" GOOD LUCK

Before taking the machine apart, always check for clogs in the hose and power nozzle, full bag, and/or plugged hole under the bag. Suction/vacuum loss can also be caused by leaky or cracked hose, including the section in the power nozzle.
The best way to check for clogs is simply drop a large marble in one end and let it roll through. To check for leaks in hose, hook to exhaust port, pour a small amount of liquid dish soap in other end of hose, lift high and turn on vacuum. Bubbles will appear at badly worn spots and cracks in hose.
There is no need to pull out the motor, as their is no filter surrounding it, motor does not need lubrication, and the above check should result in locating the problem.
Repair manuals are only available to Electrolux franchise owners as highly restricted software.
SOURCE: The clip that holds the EL5 powerhead to the wand has broken (again). How does one fix this?
i found this part online- search for part # via an exploded parts diagram of your specific unit (via google)
i ordered 5 of them because it always breaks or pops out.
this is a nice machine with crappy parts.
sorry :(

ok be4 read this these bits of info are for savvy people who know how to read inbetween lines and are safe rish takers......
first could try bit of crc down some hole that leads to voltage rails and slide it heaps up and down hopefully gives it clean and also stops it getting oxodized to recreate fault
con if had contact greese that will be all gone now and crc is flamable so if decent amout of spark canbe created by the rails could possbly catch fire but once crc drys the oil be left and be fine
i squirt into running motors and get little bit fire and its algood
just like cooking with high % alcohol be prepared
u can open but.....
its eatheir going to be the fidliyists peice of pain ever
or ur going to have to brake somethink and figure out how to remake it to work as should
or could try some magic
dont properly open it but prize it open enough and have it in right place just sos can get to wiper contacts and force them back down with somethink that fits...
if ur not used to metal bendint i sagest u go practice because its difference betweeen making esay or hard for urself
theres odd way u bend metal sos makes contact and holds pressure down
now the esayest and oddest thing of all would be get a dead/spare shaver lead or phone handset lead the ones that are coiled up find were the contacts are on the tube peice and fit the lead into that bit and unortodox fit
need to check that the lead is rated good enough for use current voltage insulation etc
and that its secure to hose
dont wana short and have it take out the main board for vaccume
this is ideas for people who understand electronics and mechanics and are enccentric enough to pull it off
isnt for dummies unless ur on a jackarse mission
