I also had ice dispensing al by itself. I was able to stop this by disconnecting the wire harness directly above the freezer door. I would like to find a schematic for this. Does anyone know where I can find one? Also, who knows where to get a new mother board?
We have a Monogram and had the spontaneous spewing today as well. We need a good class action attorney.
We also had spontaneous shut down problems which GE finally repaired after 3 motherboard replacements.
What a piece of junk! [email protected]
We have a ZISS420DR1SS and had the spontaneous spewing of water from the door dispenser occur today. Fortunately, the basement below the affected area is unfinished, but we expect problems with our kitchen hardwood flooring.
We're thinking this problem was somehow caused by the fixing of several other problems in the past two weeks. Since the unit was freezing food in the refrigerator portion, GE service replaced the system board. Since the ice maker's water level was too high, ice cubes were sticking to each other and clogging the ice dispenser. GE replaced the ice dispenser too.
Unless GE comes back with a really good story about how this issue won't happen again, we can't afford to keep the unit and live with the constant threat of a flooded home. So we're faced with fixing our flooring (if it doesn't return to normal) AND buying a non-GE replacement. I really hope that we can get a refund from GE and coverage of our floor repair.
(I should note that we had a similar, but older counter depth monogram unit for 5 years in our previous home and didn't have any of these issues. However, given the severity of water flooding, there is no way that I would purchase another GE unit.)
This has happened to us twice. The first time the motherboard was replaced and it just happened again today. I'm furious that this is the 4th breakdown in a year on a refrigerator that costs approx $7000. I intend to demand a refund as I can't feel safe leaving the house with this refrigerator in place. Replacing the motherboard will fix the problem temporarily but these boards fail regularly by all accounts. If it happens again, opening the door will stop the water/ice immediately while you figure out your next step. Good luck.

This has happened twice to my unit. The first time, no one was home so the motor continued to run until the board burned up. The second time, I was watching TV and all the sudden the ice maker came on and dumped the entire ice bin on the kitchen floor. And when the ice bin was empty, the motor continued to run. Opening the door did not turn it off. Luckily I remembered the service tech had shown me where in the unit to disconnect the power to the ice maker and controller. I'm not at all happy about this.
ice dispenser suddenly started spewing ice out, then water out . If you touched button for ice it started throwing ice out on the floor everywhere, then water.
This just happened to me with my Monogram Fridge. Water was everywhere. It stopped, I cleaned it up, then 5 minutes later, it happened again. I have hardwood in the kitchen. It would have been COMPLETELY ruined if I wasn't home. The fridge is only 2.5 years old. I'm going to call GE service tomorrow, but this is unacceptable for a $7K fridge. I need to start researching more for other such stories. I'd like to start collecting names, emails and send a formal letter to their Monogram division. Please email me with your name/email/story/city. You'd think there would be a failsafe to prevent this.

Disconnected the ice dispenser cable harness above the freezer door to stop the motor. Is it possible to locate a mother board to replace without calling a technician?
