I am using Sony DCR-HC30E Handycam for about 2 years. My handycam suddenly developed a problem, the LCD touch screen is not responding to touch. The LCD is displaying everything fine, the picture quality is like before but only the touch menu is not working. I read the user manual and trouble-shooting section, I did Calibration as mentioned there and also Reset my handycam but there is no solution. The handycam is used very carefully and it never fell down, no shock to the camera.
What should I do now?

Re: Touch Screen not responding to Touch
The flexwire cable is have an openline and that line is connected to the touch screen panel...it have to repaired or replace that flexwire to the service center....in our shop we modified that wire and became more durable than the original wire......:-)

If the buttons on the touch-panel LCD screen do not respond correctly or do not work at all, adjust the LCD screen calibration. Consult the instruction manual if specific information is required to perform this procedure. NOTE: The touch-panel LCD screen cannot be calibrated if it is rotated.
I have the same problem with a DCR-HC45.The culprit is the ribbon between the circuit board and the LCD display, but my problem is worse, sometimes the screen turns white and I can't see anything on it.I have no idea from where to buy a replacement ribbon but I know how to replace it.
Weird.. same with mine! Seems perfectly fine with exception to this problem. No obvious damage, camera still functions as expected, but yes, not responsive to touch. Could it be a date issues (2008.. lead year ?).
