I replaced the Convergence IC chips, and also checked all the resistors to see if they were in tolerance. One was bad, so i replaced it.
The convergence is so much better, but is still off by about 2 mm. especially the blue! I wanted to go into the service menu so i can refocus the tubes, because the geometry screen is the best signal i know of to do that to. i might also want to just corect the geometry and reprogram the magic focus.
Does anyone have the service code to the hitachi 51gwx20b?
Thank you!
There is not a Service code to Enter into convergence on this set , on convergence board there is a switch on the very front of board WITH set on press and hold 3secs you should see convergence Pattern Appear after you release button. From the Front of TV remove Bottom cover then you will be able to see whole chassis, and the Little Blue contact switch.on same board you replaced ICs.
I have service manual at my shop for how to adjust up and down ect.. Also did you CK all Low ohm resistors there is I think 7 or 8 resistors.RK42 Rk46 RK50. Let me get back to you on all of them.
Yes you can do adjustments with remote I just need manual at shop so i can inform you on how to do it.
OK Heres the Resistors you maybe having problem because of theses,RK42 3.3ohm RK46 1.8 RK50 2.7 RK54 1.5 RK58 3.9 RK62 2.2 .
As soon as i can i will post you anymore information that i have for setting Magic focus.
Yes ,you can join RepairWorld i would print website but for some reason its not working right www. repairworld. com ok write address together. its 29.00 for 3 months I love it there.
Right now i cant afford to renew my subs right now, but when i do i will be under trinitytvrepair.

The CHASSIS# is DP23G
And ladywinn, i will go try that now. Thanks. I'll let you know if it is successful.
ok! so after focusing, the convregency is still off by a couple mm, and it is really bugging me, is setting the geometry possible, with the remote? and do you know what the commands are like the save, after i am done?
Yes, I checked all the obvious 1W and up resistors, the resistor that had gone bad was RK46 2.7 Ohm I believe, it was burnt. I think it was a 3 W and Stupidly ordered 1W oops, but I tied 2 in series, then 2 more in series, then stuck the strings in parallel, essentially making a 4W 2.7 Ohm resistor, and it measured out just that.
I would love to know more on how to set the up down... etc.
Might I ask where you get your service manuals? I am always looking for good places to know of :)
:) It seems that i am always posting the second right after you do asking for something you said you would already do :) sorry about that, you really are on top of your game!!
So seeing that i replaced RK46 with a 2.7 made me go back and check... I kept the resistor, and looked at it agan, the first color band is defiantly red, then the two center ones are burnt brown, then the gold. So I am sure that it is a 2xx .5% and what you gave me was 1.8 :/
Thank you for going through all of this! And I look forward to your aid on the magic focus!
Have you had any luck with finding the instruction for the convergency via the remote??
I need you to look on the back of the TV and give me the CHASSIS #, then I may be able to help you.
