Auto Adjustment won't work on Samsung 2253BW 22" LCD monitor

I run a HDMI from my computer and it plugs into a DVI-D on my monitor, and my screen resolution i 1680x1050, 60hz refresh, and whenever I press the auto adjustment button it says Auto Adjustment not available. I don't see why, there's a button for it, so i know it's a feature on the monitor.

I looked up your monitor and that resolution is not supported. Which means auto adjustment will not work.
The video card will compensates for that, and resizes the picture for a display resolution that shows the picture anyway, (if it can) but isn't what you wanted. Your best bet is to use resolutions that are compatible, or get a (different) monitor.

Can your monitor AND PC put out that resolution??

I don't think your Dell and put that out, if it's an "old" machine.

I have a Samsung 940bw monitor. After pressing the auto button, it does not work anymore. Is there a problem about monitor or is it broken? I am waiting for your help. Thanks.

Hello
damnor01 here to the rescue!

Welcome to Fixya.

Since you pushed the Auto button it is possible that the monitor has changed the input type to a type other than that you are currently using.

For instance it may have chosen to accept VGA input however you have the DVI or HDMI connected.
To fix this you will have to push the auto button again, and possibly again to get it to find your current input channel.
You may need to turn your computer off and then back on again.

You may need to connect your monitor using a different connector, example via VGA, DVI or HDMI. It all depends on the connection you have at present.
Blue Connector is VGA.
White connector is DVI.
HDMI is very narrow conector usually black.

Thanking you

My monitor says cable not connected

If it like my monitor, same hookups as yours, then when you want to use the hdmi port you need to disconnect the dvi cable. The monitor cannot read from hdmi & dvi when both are connected, Try this & see if your PS3 works. Good luck
