Smartdisk Cameramate Videosafe

I wanted to copy a video of 1 hour and 50 minutes using this Cameramate with a USB connection. After the video ran, it took another 3 hours and 45 minutes for it to write to DVD and then it had an error at the end so it didn't work. Why is it so slow? What am I doing wrong?

Even with that solution, it still took 3 times as long to burn a DVD as it did to copy the 15 minute analog video. Why is it so slow?

I will try cleaning the laser lens. But I also wanted to say that the color video came out black and white and the sound wasn't synchronized with the movement. Could that be because I need better software? Or could it be that the cable that connects the Smartdisk to the video player needs replaced? It's a cable with 3 heads (red, yellow & white) and at the video player end, it's plugged into a rectangular adapter (I think it's called a peritel)which plugs into the back of the video player.

So now do you think it is the cable, the software or the lens needing cleaned? Thanks for any help you can give me.

It was trying to stream data USB while writing DVD, somewhat risky. Try this instead: look for the option to copy all data to hard drive first and then burn DVD from hard drive.

in that case, the DVD player itself may be at fault. Try cleaning the laser lens with a commercial DVD laser cleaner.

CameraMate VideoSafe

Yes, it is possible. I just needed different software, which I found using a Google search on the internet. The hardware (connector wire/ USB cable) from the CameraMate VideoSafe package works just fine. I hated the CVS software for copying DVDs anyway, so getting new software was not a problem for me.
