Hello Carol, This is an ongoing problem with these cameras, the cost of the repair exceeds the price of a replacement camera found on E-Bay. Find a good one and you are still able to use your accessories, batteries, dock, memory cards, etc. There are some nice DX6490 cameras listed all the time.
Regards, Russell

SOURCE: joystick

While trying to fix this problem today I discovered something that seems to help, at least in my case. If I push down on the small button located below the joystick/onoff button, while also tapping the OK button, the camera responds to the OK. (This is the display/info button.) I'm not sure why this works or whether it would help in every case, but it would be worth a try. I've been able to finally set my date and make other changes necessary after recharging my battery.

SOURCE: my joystick only work up down and right

I had the same problem. I took my Z760 apart and put in a joystick from a used Z760. But the problem is that the joystick comes unglued from the small computer board. Take it apart and put a tiny drop of superglue on the joystick. Use a magnifier to line up the two little tabs in the proper holes. It should work fine.

SOURCE: joystick blinks orange light

It sounds like it could be a couple of different things but it will be hard to tell without having the camera right in my hands. First you might want to check to see if you have a SD card in the cmaera. The internal memory may be full of your images and there is no room for anymore. If you have a sd card already in the camera then make sure it is not over 2gb. That model will only accomodate a 2gb card and nothing more.

Hope this helps

Yellow wrench lights

I would think there is a communication error from the joystick to the controller. One time i had this and one of the plug ends was broken off from the joystick cable. Make sure all the plug tips are straight and not missing or broken on the joystick cable and also on the joystick and controller. it could be a simple fix like replacing the cable, but if you have a broken part in the controller or the joystick ports you will have to replace the defective part.

Broke off

What broke off? The joystick? Or something else?

I will assume it's the joystick since this is the most common thing to break on the PSP. You can find a replacement joystick assembly at the following website for $15, or $35 installed:

Game will not recognize the joystick.

If it doesnt work, then try the controller. If the controller works, then just use that. Sometimes the system does not recognize the joystick.
