Likely problem: Blown magnetron. On microwaves, this can generally go dead, usually with a popping sound. Solution: A: Call an appliance repairman to replace the magnetron in the device, or B: buy a new microwave. Depending on how much you paid for it, you might be getting a better deal on either end.

Ge sensor microwave won't heat. After having several bags of popcorn burnt in it, the thermostat melted. Replaced the thermostat, now won't heat.

Possibly, but I would first suspect the connector that goes to the thermostat, since you say it melted.

You should cut back both wires an inch or so until you get bright shiny copper (not dull or pinkish color).

Then install new connectors. They're usually standard 3/16" or 1/4" crimp-on fast-on type connectors. You should be able to get connector from places like Walmart, Radio Shack or an automotive store.

There's a YouTube video (not mine) showing how to crimp connectors here.

Everthing works but won't heat

If turntable works suspect inverter (power) or Magnetron itself is bad.

GE eterna spacemaker microwave won't heat

The problem is a magnetron, "heart of the system" or the inverter board, "if 7 years old or less" and possibly the keypad control board, all of these items are not cheap and lethal voltages are present.

Problem with the GE Spacemaker (JVM1640SJ) Microwave Oven GE Spacemaker XL1800 won't heat food anymore....It worked this morning, now won't heat. What should I do?

GE Will replace the magnetron for 9 years! Mine is a 2004 model with a one year warrently according to manual. HOWEVER they did say the magnatron was covered for nine years: call 888-239-6832. When I called they said thats all they get calls for and would send out in 3-5 days. NO CHARGE. I had to ask if there was coverage longer than a year on major parts and that's when they offered the info and I eventually was transferred to the right office. Saved $120 bucks on parts alone.

My GE JVM1540 microwave appears to run but it won't heat. The lights and turntable work but it does not heat at all.

you will have to replace the microwave, sounds like a burned out magnetron, replacing the magnetron is almost as expencive as a new oven...
