Samsung HL-P6163W DLP sometimes turns on with NO PICTURE

I've had my Samsung DLP for about 3 years now and it has never had a problem tell recently. Sometimes when I turn the TV on it comes on but with no picture. I still get sound and the black screen even gets a little brighter after the TV warms up. It doesn't make any unusuall noises and doesn't turn itself off. If I power it down and turn it back on it will eventually come back on with a picture but sometimes I have to turn it on and off like 10-15 times before it comes up with a picture. I recently changed out the bulb thinking thats what it was but it still does it. So so far my solution has been just to not turn off the TV when the picture finally comes on. Anybody esle had the problem.

Samsung 61

If using a cable or sat box try a DVD etc when set cold, a box can cause lockup issues via signal.

Not a color wheel is correct, more likely a DMD which is rather pricy and almost as much as the entire light engine which comes with it.

A more likely candidate is the color wheel, unless your sure it's the fan

My Samsung DLP model HL-P6163W keeps turning on and off and now lights are flashing. We replaced the color wheel last year and about two years ago the lamp.

could still be the lamp but it could also be the Ballast for the lamp has failed. I've replaced a lot of Ballasts on DLP machines.

Samsung 61' DLP Color problem.

If you are using Component inputs, check to make sure that the Blue Video Cable has not backed out of its connecting jack at either end or the cable it's self being bad. If you are using HDMI I would suspect that the Digital Board being bad. It would be odd for the Color Wheel to cause the problem but cannot eliminate it as a cause. The Lamp would cause the picture to be darker but not cause a color to drop out.
I would call a professional to trouble shoot it unless you have the knowledge and the tools to do so.
Hope this helps,
