Hello Evelynmckinn,
based on your description, you could have a plumbing problem meaning: that rain water is getting into your vent pipe and leaking into your basement. You should be able to zero in on the exact spot if you snoop around but.. more likely you have a grading problem outside whereby when it rains, the runoff water from your roof or surrounding areas is finding a weakness in the foundation and getting in. My bet is that you may have a gutter problem or the grading ( slope) that surrounds your basement needs to be readjusted to steer water away from your foundation. There is another possibility that came to mind.. the water table in your area may be high enough to seep up thru a crack in the basement floor. Those would be the prime suspects .. Hope that helps you identify the root cause..
Regards
Rick

Check out side where the water is going into the basement, aside from the gutter down spout, you going to need pack some earth so that the water will running towards the yard. If it is where the gutter down spout is, then you need to get a gutter extension direct the water some where else.
DO not paint the basement wall, you will have mod. however, you can waterproof the wall when the weather gets to be above 55 degree.

Why is steam and water coming out of the safety valve of the Russel Hobbs preasure cooker

When a pressure cooker is working normally, some steam and a little water is supposed to come out of the valve, that's how you know it's up to pressure.

Can you boil in a slow cooker?

Generally, with enough heat and good insulation, water will boil. Boiling is caused by non-uniform heating - some spots are hotter.
My wife's slow cooker boils even on the low setting -slowly, but it boils.
Our rice cooker never used to boil until I burned tomato rice in it (OOPs). Don't make tomato rice in a rice cooker.

Water coming into refrigerator

Evelyn,

More than likely (I can't be sure from here!), your icemaker "motor module" has failed. This module controls the amount of water that goes into the ice tray. If the timer fails, the water valve can stay open. Also, if this is a new unit, or a used refrigerator you just installed, all you may need is to reset the timer on the motor module. The icemaker must be removed to do that. The tray fill time varies with the local water pressure. If your water pressure increases for some reason, the time must be shortened to avoid overfilling the tray.

16Qt Roaster oven

Dear Lunders

I cannot recommend cooking a turkey in a crockpot for many reasons. I have always cooked turkeys at 200/225 degrees in the oven overnight. The secret is to seal the roaster with heavy duty foil with maybe a cup of water in the roaster, bake the bird upside down. Turn it over, increase the temperature, and uncover it for an hour before serving. Worked for me for 40 years, and the guests never complained.

Rival automatic steamer rice cooker 4450 guide needed

Here's all the info I've been able to find:

The older Rival rice cooker steamer should have a base, a lid, steamer basket, and rice bowl.

To cook rice, fill center basin of base with water. Place the rice bowl on basin. Add rice and water as follows. For white rice add water in a 1:1 ratio to rice plus 1/2 cup. For brown rice add water in a 1:1 ratio to rice plus 3/4 cup. Examples: 1 cup white rice, 1-1/2 cup water; 2 cups brown rice, 2-3/4 cups water. Put lid on and plug in and in about 50 minutes you should have delicious rice.

Timing is Everything
Whether using the Rival Steamer for a main dish or for a side dish, cooking is easy. But not Fast. Rice and steamed vegetables actually take twice as long to cook in this steamer. The simplicity comes since you add your rice or vegetables in one step. No waiting for one thing to happen before you can do the next. Put water and fruits, vegetables, fish, poultry or rice in the basket or bowl that come with the unit, cover, plug in and wait for the light to go off per the timing chart.
1/4 cup water takes 6 -7 minutes
1/2 cup water takes 10-12 minutes
3/4 cup water takes 16-17 minutes
1 cup water takes 19-22 minutes
1.25 cups water takes 24-26 minutes
1.5 cups water takes 26-30 minutes
2 cups water takes 38-39 minutes
2.5 cups water takes 43-44 minutes
3 cups water (max fill) takes 45-50 minutes.

Cover and steam until wooden pick inserted near center comes out clean. Serve warm with **Marshmallow Cream Sauce. Water: 1 cup. Time: 19-22 min.

Cracked glaze on new-looking used thrift-store slow-cooker crock

I would not be afraid to use it as they are probably just cracks in the glazing. The heat from cooking would kill any micro organisms. I would err on the side of safety and not store fund in it though. Cook in it then transfer the food for storage. If you did not get a great deal on it and are still apprehensive return it. Good luck Kevin
