Question about Garmin StreetPilot C330 GPS Receiver
OK, I am a now gps dependant, and my garmin will not stay on, no matter how long it is plugged in, and the reset isn't cutting it either. As soon as I push the power button, the screen comes on, then turns it's self off...help :)
My problem is with humidity or i believe it is. my garmin will turn on however if the humidity is high etc..then when i turn the garmin off it may or may not come back on. if it does great, if not then i have to keep it unplugged for some time9from a few minutes to over an hour) and try to get the A/C to 'dry"it out. It will eventually come back on however it has quit a couple of times when I truly needed it. Good luck with yours and maybe this will help you some.

Sounds like a battery issue in the unit. Are you still under warranty? Also, test the lighter plug for continuity. Vehicles can sometimes blow single fuses that control only the cigarette lighters in the car, and therefore, leave any electronics kind of high-and-dry. So test the outlet first, and if it doesnt function, its probably a car fuse issue. If it does, then you're probably looking at either a wire fault in the plug, or a faulty battery in the GPS unit. For either of these problems, take the GPS in to the retailer, and see if they will work out an exchange or replacement.

I actually own a 330, they're sturdy units. However, the battery is pretty proprietary. So you can probably get one at a specialty online site somewhere, but I'm pointing to the cheaper fixes. The 330 does not use a cradle mount for charging, the cradle simply holds the unit to the window. The battery is within the unit, and all the wires go directly to said unit. The only reason it will shut off automatically, under normal operation, is if the battery is not charged.
It's a simple DC in plug, to a standard vehicle plug setup, which, without a working fuse, of course, wont feed power. So if the car's fuse is blown for the cigarette lighters(which is common when using devices on a regular basis, factory fuses are kind of pot metal in most cars), naturally, the garmin will discharge(its lone battery life is very low), and will deactivate the unit.

I was told by the store I took it back to that there isn't a serge protector in this model, so if the engine sends a serge to the gps it will fry it, and I could have had it fixed for 100.00 by sending it in to the company :( sorry , good luck

Boy, people are really dumb. The problem the guy is describing is NOT with it's opperation. It's with it's NOT operating when the adapter is not plugged in. It should run on battery for some time afterwards. I have the same problem and am looking for the solution. Thanks for your red herring know nothing suggestions.

I have a similar problem. My unit turns off by itself even when plugged in. The indicator shows a FULL battery.
