Everything you need is on the creative web site. I googled it and the solution id for your perticular problem is 4794

You probably just to need to re-install/update the firmware. if you turn it on and just after the zen logo the little ahazard sign appears, it says something like "problem with firmware," that's your fix. the same thing happened to me when i followed what it said on the site to troubleshoot the display, but they're all assholes and instead of fixing it, murdered the player. oh, and be prepared to have everything on there erased. yeah, it sucks :-(

totally have the same problem. No hazard sign appears though. It just goes straight to recovery. Have no idea what happened to it though as someone else was using it and brought it back to me in recovery mode. (teaches me to not let someone else use it.)
After I select format all, I get the warning about erasing all my data, I select "yes", then HARD DISK PROBLEM appears on the screen. I've tried rebooting, cleaning, uninstalling/installing software, the recovery button on Creative website, reloading firmware ... am I in deep doo-doo?
I turned on my Zen Vision:M and it went straight to recovery mode. When I tried to reload firmware or format all, a hazard sign appeared saying "Harddisk problem". What should I do?
