I had the same problem with a Uniden 3355 handset and 2355 base. With the new handset I pressed "Menu" and selected "System Reset". I then Selected "Deregister HS" and followed the prompts.
Once this was complete, I returned to "System Reset" and selected "Replacing Base". Following the prompts, when it said "Register Handset" I put it in the base of the 2355, and within a minute it had registered, so both handsets used the base of the 2355!

DCX170 handset will not register to DECT2060 Base

Yes, it looks they are compatible. I would guess you need to set up from scratch. Remove all power to base unit and handsets, batteries to handsets, and phone line and start from the Base unit, to powering handsets again.

I have an uniden exa 2980 and losy manual, how do I obtain a copy.also how do I turn up ring volumn?

Uniden has the manual for the EXAI2980 here: https://www.uniden.com/File%20Library/FooterNav/Product%20Information/Owners%20Manuals/exai2980om.pdf .

Do you need to adjust the ringer volume of the base, the handsets or both? To set the ringer volume of the base, start with the phone in standby mode (no calls being made or received) then press Menu 4 times (the right-hand button in the row above the volume up/down buttons). You should hear the current ring volume and see it displayed on the LCD screen. Press Set (the left-hand button in the row above the volume buttons). Press Skip/FF or Repeat/RR (the buttons on either side of the Play button below the LCD screen) until the desired ring volume level is displayed. Press Set to save the setting. Press Play/Stop to exit the menu system. See page 38 of the manual (page 40 of the PDF above) for the directions.

To adjust the handset ringer volume, press the handset volume up or down buttons with the phone in standby. The last chosen ringer tone and volume will be saved. See page 16 (page 18 of the PDF). Sometimes, the handset will not ring after losing the security code that pairs it to the base. Remove the handset from the base. Press and hold Page on the base (between Set and Menu). While the handset is sounding the paging tone, replace the handset in the base. Leave the handset in the base until the flashing stops (more than 5 seconds). See page 47 of the manual.

I hope this helps.

Uniden D3098S I have 2 register hand sets #1 and #2 I have a 3rd one having trouble registerting it to the base iam 2 feet away from the base unit it says check base power & out of range

Registering a Handset

If you see a "not registered" message on a handset, you must register it to a base before using it.

1. On the base, open the menu and select "Register Handset"

2. On the handset, press and hold POUND (#) until the handset display says "Handset Registering" (about 2 seconds).

3. Wait until the handset display says "Registration Complete" (about 30 seconds), then pick up the handset and press eND/CleaR.

# If you don't hear a dial tone or the display says "Registration Failed" charge the battery completely, then try again.

Uniden phone stuck at searching, not getting a dial tone

One thing to try is deregestering your phone and registering it with the base again.

Hole the # and 'End' key on the handset until the next menu appears (about 5 seconds). Select deregister phone (use the 'Menu' button). Do it again, but select "base unavailable". After that, set them in the base (not the handset charger) and they should register with the base.

This works on most Uniden model phones.

How do I register my Uniden handset? It keeps saying it tis searching and then out of range even though I have it on the cradle

Which Uniden phone do you have? Some should register with the handset in the base unit cradle for 30 seconds to a minute. Others need to be within a few feet of the base but not in the base charging.

For the models that need to be registered with a multiple step process, first make sure that the handset is fully charged; this could take 15 hours. (Make sure the battery is properly connected; if it is loose, the registration may fail. If the battery may have been sitting in a warehouse for months, you may want fresh batteries even for a new phone.) Make sure that the base is plugged in (power and telephone line). I like to check the phone line with a basic corded phone for dial tone if there are any issues with a cordless phone. With some Uniden phones, a registration problem can be cleared up by disconnecting the battery and then reconnecting it before attempting to register the handset. (Make sure that you do not have more registered handsets than the base can deal with. You may need to deregister all of the handsets and start over. Make sure that the handset is compatible with the base.)

The rest of the process requires you to have the handset close to the base and be relatively quick. (You need to tell the handset to get the registration information from the base and the base to send the information before they time out). For the D1688, at the base, you need to press Menu and go to the Register Accy submenu. Press Select. Then press and hold # on the handset you need to register until you see Registering Handset. Wait for the Registration Complete (or Failed) message.

For the DECT1060, the procedure starts at the handset. Press Menu and navigate to Add. Settings. Press Menu/OK and navigate to Register and press Menu/OK. Select the base number and press Menu/OK. Then press and hold the Find HS button on the base for 3+ seconds until the unit enters registering mode. Now on the handset, you need to enter a PIN that matches the one set for the base. (The default is 0000.)

If you still have problems with registering the handset, then it's likely that the transmitter or the receiver for either the base or the handset may have a problem sending and receiving the codes that synch the base and the handset. Most Uniden phones are not meant to be user serviced for this type of proble. You will need to contact Uniden if the phone is under warranty or decide if you want to replace or repair the phone through Uniden's support.

The manuals for all Uniden DECT 6.0 phones are available as PDFs from Uniden. See http://www.uniden.com/bin/venda?ex=co_disp-view&bsref=uniden&scat=dectphones_mnl for a list of all models or search for your specific model. On the manuals pages, the models are listed in numerical and alphabetical order.

I hope this helps.

Will uniden 6.0 handest work with an existing 5.8 system? I have an 5.8 system for about 4 years I think the handset cordless is not holding a charge so I would like to purchase additional cordless sets...

Your 5.8 system utilizes analog transmissions at 5.8 GHz between the base and handset. The DECT is digital at 1.9 GHz. Sorry, but the two systems are totally incompatible.

How to set up uniden phone to base

If the handset has previously worked with the base - press the hangup button and the # key at the same time on the handset for five seconds and follow the prompts to deregister the handset. (System reset - deregister HS - which handset) It will tell you that the handset is deregistered. Then put the handset onto the base and it will register the handset.
