Question about RCA F32632SB 32" TV

1 Answer

Intermittently picture will lose horizontal size, now even the RT4201K fell of and no Degausing

I have this TV since 1998 it was "fine" untill a year ago. Three years ago startied with sudden loss of horizontal size and vertical borders were curved. I opened the back dusted the fuzz and miraculosely the problem dod not occur for two more years. A year ago I opened it again hoping the problem will disappeare. I tried nocking/tapping the components but nothing would return the horizontal size when i knocked the deGaussing Varistor broken and lost the propper color. Any idea where to look for the broblem. Any tip of suggestion will bring me to the finale to keep it or curb it (mean the TV).

Make checks on the yoke, flyback, and the HOT they could be your source of problem.also check the horizontal circuit.good luck.

Picture size

I found the user manual online, and the pictures in it are really helpful and make this make a lot more sense, but:
1. Press [SCREEN MODE], to switch the TV aspect ratio.
2. Press [SCREEN MODE] repeatedly until the normal screen displays.
NOTE: • Some programs may not offer all display mode options.
4:3 Programming
[Sidebar] Sidebar displays a 4:3 picture at its standard 4:3 size. Sidebars will be displayed on the right and left edges of the screen.
[Full] Full displays a 4:3 picture at a 16:9 size, with horizontal elongation necessary to fill the screen.
[Cinema] Cinema displays a 4:3 picture at a 16:9 size, with less horizontal elongation necessary to fill the screen because a little bit of the top and bottom edge of the screen will be cut off.
[Wide] Wide displays the center of the picture as original size and the outer sides of the picture will be elongated. The size of the picture will depend on the original signal.
16:9 Programming
[Full] A picture is displayed at 16:9 size as it is.
[Zoom] Zoom displays a 16:9 picture without changing its horizontal and vertical ratio, at its maximum size.
[Cinema] Cinema displays a 16:9 picture with vertical elongation.
[Expand] Expand displays a 16:9 picture with horizontal elongation

Hi.. Mine is a sansui tv and I bought it 3 years back. Now it is showing a horizontal line on the screen. Sound is fine but I can't see the picture, I just see one white horizontal line on tv...

The problem is vertical failure. Vertical output section to your TV ahs the fault. You ahve to check the vertcial output circuit for any component failure or loose solderings.

Toshiba TV (about 7 years old)

You had parts in the vertical deflection circuit failing, most common are the vertical output IC and possibly several capacitors also in the same circuit.

17 yr. old 35" RCA loses color intermittently. Picture & sound ok

Three guns Red Blue and Green in the picture tube of an old CRT set. If one of the guns goes out it effects that color. Sounds like one of the guns inside of the tube is going out, To costly to replace for such an old antilog set that will have to have a convertor box next month anyway.

42" RCA Projection TV - Sound good, but Picture goes out intermittently.

resolder the vertical output IC . bad solder there can make the CRTs blank for protection and you will lose the picture when the vertical drops out.
