Yes, I bought this radio off of ebay for my father as a gift and it was/is locked with a code I emailed the guy I bought it off of on ebay and asked him for the code he says he never installed a code in the radio that he just removed it unhooked it from his car put it and the remote in the factory box that it came in when he had bought it new with all the paperwork that had come with it and shipped it to me. I worked as a Installer for Audio Express in Jonesboro, Ar for 6 or 7 years we sold and installed Kenwood 12volt car and Home Audio products! That has been about 8 years ago the manger has changed since I worked there so he won't help me in any way even though I have my receipt for the purchase from ebay. So when I get it in I give it to my dad and he goes and installs it into his truck and when he powers it up it asks for the code. Whats my options here that I haven with this radio? I gave to much for it to just trash it and eat my losses ya know and there is one thing I've learn'd since being a certified installer there is a way around everything! I just can't figure this one out for myself! So any help would be greatly appreciated very, very, much........... Thank you for your time, Dave Matthews
Dave, Do you have the owner's manual for the radio, and if so have you tried to input the number code they have exampled in the manual? The guy you bought it from did get into the procedure for setting up a security code - - he may not have gone as far as completing the task but from the owner's manual instructions it appears he went far enough and then maybe disconnected it leaving it in "CODE" display. If you need the manual I can send it to you privately, just drop me an email. [email protected] And as a last resort you could try calling Kenwood support 800-536-9663. They may be able to send you the backdoor code. Hope this helps! Bill
