Hi,
I just purchased HP scanjet G400 series. I have installed the software on my computer, but when I try to scan, an Error window pops up saying "Sorry, scanner could not be initialized. (Scanner not found).
I have restarted my computers, and turned the scanner off and on again, but it's still gives me that error. The cables have been checked, and everything seems to be working, and plugged in correctly.
I have Mac 10.5 (Leopard).
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thank you,
Jasmine
I cannot uninstall my software, I need to do a complete reinstall to try to rectify problems
I had a similar problem, and it seemed to go away when I switched my USB cable from a port in the back of my computer to one of the two ports that I have on the front of my computer--not sure why that worked

Thank you for your comment. I've tried different cables and different ports, but it didn't work. What did work however is this: I have deleted the software that came on the dvd with the scanner, and then installed the same one form HP website, after restarting my computer it worked.
After installing the software - I try to click on the computer solutions icon and receive the following message - "no hp devices are found - computer solutions is now closing" I've tried everything and nothing works....
Brand new G4050 - get the same error message that scanner could not be initialized. (Scanner not found.) I've got a MacBook
I get the same "scanner cannot be initialized" message.
I connected my G4050 to my powerbook G4, which has a driver installed (got it from a website). I tried restarting my G4 and scanner numerous times but still get the same error message. Tried different usb ports on my G4 but it didn't solve the problem.
Why is this???
