Re: flashing error message C:31:23
Hi Jazzy, Please see the detail below for the said error codes C31:23.
to the symptom and self diagnostic system the problem is in mechanical
section (tape loading section) Therefore camera just need mechanical
adjustment and will work fine again. This problem aries when the
insertion of the cassette is improper or forced insertion. Thanks for using fixya.

i have dcr-trv 245e handycam it works alright but original driver is with window xp and now i have a new pc with window vista so i cant use my old driver ,what do i do now to get it working any site to download driver for window vista ?
Will it record on a new tape? Will it play a different tape? Have had a similar problem with a different camera. Think it had to do with the record mode / play back. A bit like standard play and long play - are there setting like that you could change?
The older tapes were shot on a 8mm camcorder and the camcorder you have wil not play them becasue it doesn't have backwards compatability with the older format. The tapes you recorded are on a digital 8 camcorderr and it is different encoding than the one you recorded the other 60 tapes with. You will need to find either a dcr-trv 350 trv 530 trv 730 ect as these have the ability to play all the tapes.
Or find an older 8mm camcorder to play your tapes with.
Hope this helps
