Need the jumper numbers (where to place the wiring from the case to the motherboard) for the power switch, Reset, Hard drive and power lite.
Thanks
Lllc
If its a P4mmv2 motherboard with AMIBIOS 686 and a VIA VT8233 chipset then the jumper setting are printed on the motherboard, but they have labeled the power switch wrong, I believe th reset switch is the power switch. This is the type of mother board that I have and I have learned this from experience. Also I read in somewhere on the internet about the problems with these types of motherboards.

Re:
You can download the manual from here, although you need to check on the motherboard as to which version you have

If you have installed the hard drive and it reads no OS, that means you have a blank hard drive. You need to install Windows on it. If you took a hard drive out of your system and are replacing it with a new one, place the jumpers on the new one in the same location as they are on the old one. Different hard drive brands use different jumper locations. When in doubt, the jumper location is printed on the front of the drive or, in the case of a Western Digital, is printed on the bottom of the drive right below the jumper posts.
If you no longer have the manual for you're Intel D815EEA motherboard, open the link provided and download it; http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=17793&ProdId=385&lang=eng You will also need Adobe reader installed to view the manual; http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/ Read over pages 65 to 68. Once completed turn to page 68 Figure 23. Front Panel connectors. Figure 23 shows two views. View - (left figure), shows J9C1 as you look down at the front panel pins. The right figure will not be needed. Connect each jumper or each pair as shown. Wire colors are important and do vary from case to case. The common color of each pair will most likely be used for negative. Wire colors such as blue, light blue, green, light green, red and light red are commonly used as positive. Pin 1 will be positive and pin 3 will be negative. This is letter - C. Hard drive activity LED. Pin 2 is positive and pin 4 is negative. Case power LED, and so forth. As mentioned on page 65, the case front panel pins use 5 volts DC. If you make a mistake and place a jumper backwards (No LED light), just power off the switch on the back of the power supply and correct the jumper by turning it 180 deg. If you’re case’s LEDs do not light up than you will need to connect letter G and letter H. The electronic circuits under the motherboard should supply all 16 motherboard pins with the 5 volt DC and ground needed.
Open ECS web site and download the manual for your MB, P4VMM2 V7.3; http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?detailid=333&CategoryID=1&DetailName=Manual&MenuID=1&LanID=9 You will need Adobe reader to view the manual if you currently do not have it. Download and install Adobe; http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/ With Adobe you can zoom in and out to assist you in connecting your case to the motherboard. Start with page 9. Page 12 and 13 shows you how to connect your case LEDs to the motherboard. Pin 1 is positive for your HDD_LED. Pin 3 is negative for the HDD_LED. ECT. Most wires coming from the case are inserted into a jumper and most jumpers are marked. Ex: HDD for hard disk drive, RS for Reset Switch, PW for power on/off switch ECT. The case wire colors do vary from case to case. The wire colors blue, light blue, green, light green and red are most common to be positive. The colors white and black are common for negative. Below is a picture of a typical front panel case to motherboard hook up. Less the white standoff jumper block.
Your board uses an internal speaker. Connect the red wire to pin 1 and connect the black wire to pin 4. See page 11 for location and page 12 for connection.
Use the manual. Its a great guide.
Open the case and look for a jumper switch (usually blue or black color) labeled CLRTC or CRL. A jumper switch is a small connector connecting two pins on the motherboard. Same like the one in CD ROM drive or hard drive for selecting master or slave.
If you find it, unplug the power cable, remove the jumper. Wait 10 - 15 seconds, then put it back. Plug the power cable and try power up your computer.
Hi ohfs55, case's vary & so do the wire colors. The most common wire color for positive are colored wires. Blue, Green, & red. The most common color for negative is White & or black. I wasn't able to find your manual. If you have the manual for the motherboard there will be a page that will show where the positive & negative wire's connect for each jumper to the motherboard. Without the manual I can not guide you through each connection. PW = power switch, RW =Reset switch, HD_LED = Hard drive LED ECT.
Mike
If the wires from the reset switch is white/blue the blue wire is positive, Hdd red/white red is positive power Green/white Green is positive etc. The wires on the speaker connector will be red/black/black/white - red is positive. The colored wire is always positive. On all GA mb's the positive connection is always towards the back of the MB and are marked with a + on the base of the pin as you can see on the photo. Hope this help.
Some wiring can be confusing such as with the board we were using. As
you can see the wires mainly connect from left to right but the hard
drive LED and the Key Lock wires connect from top to bottom but still
show where the (-) connection is. This is where you need to pay close
attention to where things actually connect to the motherboard as many
boards have similar configurations.
How about a picture? Pg. 46 in your manual. Need manual, download from Intel. (Click on link). http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/RC440BX/sb/CS-013608.htm Intel RC440BX Specification Pg. 46 Basic rules case wiring. The color black is considered ground -. Power wires + can be any other color including stripped wires. (This is standard but case Mfg change to their own specification). Pin 1 is + power for LED Hard drive green LED, Pin 2 is -/ground for Hard drive LED. (Pin 3 is + power for LED Hard drive yellow LED, Pin 4 is -/ground for Hard drive LED).(See more options on pg. 47). Pin 5 is + power for case On/off button, Pin 6 is -/ground On/off button. Pin 7 is + power for Reset Switch, Pin 8 is -/ground for Reset Switch. Once positive & negative pins has been located each connector follows in suit. The Intel RC440BX front case connector is in an odd location. The user will find it hard to connect front case LED connectors while the board in installed into the case.
