HPv165w recognized in Device manager...But cant open it in My computer..

Right click on my computer , left click manage , click storage - disk management
in the top section of the window see if you can see your pendrive .. if you can then check the drive letter it was assigned , then check if one of your other drives hasn't already being assigned that letter , if so right click ont the pendrive in disk management console - select change drive letter and paths..... -
select a another letter for the device - one that hasn't been used yet

Right click "MY COMPUTER" then go to properties and then hardware and then device manager.

Make sure you have no yellow "exclamation point" symbols next to any devices.


IF that doesn't work you will need to try and format through linux based OS or try KNOPPIX linux (boot cd)


If none of those options work the pendrive is dead.

Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.

Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.

In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.

Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.

Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

manage

in right panel double click storage

double click disk management(Local)

right click on the pen drive shown and click format

you just uninstall that unkown device which you get in device manager and reconnect the pendrive if again it says unknown device then goto update driver and select 2nd option which is advanced in that select don't search for driver i'll select and select the driver which is shown in the list and click next and finish ur pendrive will works

this is what i have just found on the internet it might help you out but not sure.
After plugging in the device. Go to device manager (In run type "devmgmt.msc") In Device manager go to "Universal serial bus controllers" It should list the storage devices that you have connected to your PC. Right click and then click "Uninstall. Remove the USB drive and restart your system.
Try connecting the device again, I think this should solve the problem.
for windows xp
first you need to go to Device Manager by double-clicking on the System icon in Control Panel, choosing the Hardware tab, and clicking Device Manager.
go to divice manager
usb hub controler it will be at last of the list then
right click on usb hub controler open it go to usb root hub right click & go to properties
then go to device and click ok
do it 4 to 5 time it will work 100%

hi do one thing go to my computer right device manager ther u to o universal serial bus right click on tht option go to update driver select yes this time only give automatic k . before doing this step plz insert mother board driver cd after tht u do all this procedure thn c ur pendriv vl be dedected k

Try windows repair, it should fix the problem.Else connect the pendrive and check the port settings.You can check for the port settings by
right click on "my computer"-->properties-->hardware-->device manager
A new window opens and at the bottom probably you'll find "Universal Serial Bus controller". Expand that option and check whether all the ports are enabled.If the pendrive is still not detected, then the problem is with the port.Check the same with the other available ports.Any further doubts add comments.Would be glad to answer.Good luck.

pen drives generally have 3 to 5 years warranty, if your pen drives are not detectng on other systems also, its better to replace it

I agree with geokohler...
removing the original software on the device many times allows said device to be used on any computer, obviously once the software is removed the devicxe will need to be reformatted!

pendrive n pc is screwed man....
