I'm having this same problem as well except it occurs as a "green static" which shows up in a certain hue of black. There is a much less noticeable blue static which occurs in certain hues of blue as well.

Could this be one of the boards faulting out? Is there a simple component that I could replace and solder in?

There is a picture of the problem. It is slightly exaggerated in the pic.

Well I was able to fix my problem. After I took apart the monitor, the cable that attached the main video board to the pcb board on back of the monitor need to be reseated. It was slightly unplugged from the video board, this was causing the ground to not make connection, and build up the staticy green picture.

John here, a customer advocate at Dell headquarters. You can access the main menu by pushing the MENU button. From there you should have access to brightness and contrast controls, color settings, and image settings, among others. You should be able to adjust the settings so that white looks white, and black looks black. If you can't get it where it needs to be from these controls, it may indicate a problem. Call support if that is the case.

If black ink is out, will copy in color possible from pc? Also how do I reset this printer?

Dear
Since the model is not found, its difficult to say. however in most cases the subtractive colors are used ie cyan, magenta and yellow. with mixing these white is produced but in case of basic color used ie. red, green and yellow, on mixing these black color is produced. Mostly cyan, magenta and yellow is used hence you can not produce black color so the a complete color print not possible.
Thanks.

Dell W1700 LCD TV static audio and b/w picture

Hi bsut96,
Check the cable between the monitor and the box for damage. Try a new cable. It may be a problem with the input board but it sounds like a cable problem. Let me know what you find and please rate this solution. Lone99star

Severe gradient issues / problems with darker grays

So your sure when you go into the monitor settings, and color, it is set to like 9300k or something? It probably isn't the monitor, because the video games you said display just fine.
