All of a sudden the remote no longer works to control the VOLUME or to power the TV ON/OFF. We've had it about 2 years. New batteries installed in remote, still not working. Tried unplugging TV for a few minutes, still does not work. The book Troubleshooting guide does not cover this problem. Please help?
You can start with opening the remote control and clean the buttons on your remote control. don't use any aceton based products. there can be some grease on the buttons.
if you used the on/off and volume more then the other buttons.

You can repair some of these remotes. Usually the hard part is getting the cover off. they are not really made to be serviced. The problem with most all remotes that start doing what you describe is either wear or something spilled on it. You can fix it. Sony remotes may have 1 screw in the battery compartment. remove it and try sliding the front and back. If that dosen't work try prying from one side with a sharp edege. If you do manage to get it open take the PC board out. You will see a rubber like membrane that lays against the board. Try cleaning that with a qtip and rubbing alcahol. Then clean the PC board the same way especially where the pads of rubber contact the board. Make sure it's completely dry and snap it back together. If it works better good, if not the pads are to worn and you just have to replace. Good Luck.
It sounds like the button is stuck. Take the remote apart if you can and see if the key is stuck somewhere. This happened to me once with a rubber key type of remote. It drove me crazy.

Wow, I feel stupid! Solution #2 did it! There are 2 Tv buttons, one on the top right and one on bottom right. You have to press the bottom one!! THANK YOU PPL!!!

there are different codes for the devices that you are using. When you want to insert the code for the tv. > Switch tv on and then switch all the other devices off. Insert code. For digi box > switch on and all other devices off. Insert code for digibox. You must then switch between tv and digi box using the buttons on the top of the remote. Toggle between tv/ digi box.
Have a go with the codes below with the tv and the digibox both on, you never know you might get lucky as these are new codes, if not revert back to 1st solution.

This company called Amergence Technology sells the Olevia Remote and will control any olevia television.
