For almost 2 years this fridge has worked great, but now we have a little problem. The only button on the front ice/water dispenser that works properly is the lock button. The others kind of work, by this I mean when they are pushed they switch to the selection. If the blower in the refrigerator side is blowing when a button is pushed it stops and then about 10 seconds later comes on again. I did it a few times to make sure that it wasn't coincidence. Also when you take a cup and push the switch to get some ice or water you get nothing. Instead of the light coming on like normal when the switch is pushed in, it comes on afterwards. Also when the switch is pushed in there is a clicking noise at the control board in the back of the fridge. I have looked at to see if any fuses were blown, but the fuse is ok at the bottom of the board. The clicking seems to be coming from the top part of the board. Sorry if this is a bit much, but wanted to include all details that I could think of.
I had the exact same problem with the same model refrigerator. I wound up ordering the part from GE and was charged $69.95, there was no cheaper price elsewhere. The service rep couldn't give me a discount, but it's a lot cheaper than a service call (or replacing the food). GE should reconsider its 1 800 "GE CARES" phone number though. You get the feeling they don't.

Re: Water/Ice machine controls acting up
The clicking noise is likely a relay that turns on the selected function. if you see some square shaped (about one inch by 1.5 inches tall) plastic parts on the top of the board, touch them while someone pushes a switch. if you can feel and hear the click, then this is normal. still do not know of your solution though.

If a year old there is no warranty for the ice maker or the dual water control valve. Feel around the ice slots to see if there is still sitting there? What is the model number of your fridge? If the ice tray slots are empty fill with tap water until near full and if the water freezes and the ice maker drops the ice into the ice container the problem will link to a water control valve problem. If there is ice in the slots and ice maker is on and does nothing then the problem is the ice maker and it will need to be replaced.
couple things to check, make sure your adjustments are all set for the middle, freezer and fridge settings,, also pop the front grill from the bottom and make sure your coils are clean, I do my freezer andfridge twice a year, Sometimes people try to set a freezer colder or a fridge colder and it messes with the way a freezer works that is why i say make sure your settings are in the middle.
this is abrand new fridge.if the ref is less than 2 yr old. better call a tech. your problem FOR SURE. water valve, ice maker, or a combination of 2. also tell your tech. to check the arm in the i.m. and the brackett. do not trty to replace the ice maker. is a little tricki.(SUBZ.less than 2 years old is cover by the manufactor subzero. zero money for you.)
Good day, There is a drain cup in the rear top center of the fridge compartment that drains the water to the outside of the machine, down a drain pipe into the drain pan. Hard to see the cup unless you use a hand mirror. Dirt, can plug this cup and as well the hose and fittings in the back of the machine. Removing this cup requires removing the front cover, and between cleaning it, the connection between the inside and outside of the machine and the drain hose can be tedious. Don't force the situation. Shut the machine down, until it is completely defrosted.
Possible control board failure ...you may notice the freezer lights do work but nothing else. There is a diagnostic push button on the board located on the top of unit under a panel where the power cord enters. andrews electronics .com is the oem provider for this very expensive control board.
Your inlet tube that goes to the icemaker may be frozen. To Check: Shut off water supply to Fridge, disconnect the water line that goes to the icemaker at top back. Use a flexible item to insert in the water line connection.I used a zip tie. If the flexible item won't all the throughto the ice maker, the line is frozen. Thaw out the tube from inside the freezer with a hair dryer. Re-connecteverything, you now have ice . . . Solution #2: You may have to replace your "Water InletValve" located at bottom right rear of Fridge.Easy to do, just follow the color codes, be sure and shut off the water.
INSIDE THE DISPENSER ASSEMBLY IS A SEPARATE ELECTRONIC BOARD THAT CONTROLS THE DISPENSER.
OCCASIONALLY, THE DOOR SOLENOID OR THE CUBE ICE SOLENOID WILL SHORT OUT CAUSING A BURNOUT OF THE DISPENSER CONTROL BOARD. CHECK FOR A BURNT SMELL COMING FROM THE DISPENSER HOUSING. IF YOU SMELL IT, THE BOARD AND/OR SOLENOID NEED TO BE REPLACED.
check you paperwork , and manual. sounds like a compressor issue, which "should" be covered by 5 year manufacture warr. reason i say "should" is hte warr's all changed jan1/06. only one year form there . but check your manual itll have the warr info in it
