Shower Handle When we remodeled our bathroom which only has a Shower, my husband replace the old shower handle with a new one that I chose. The old one you would turn right or left depending on the temperature you wanted then pull it out. The new one I purchased only turns right or left, doesn't pull out. Is there an adapter we can purchase to correct this problem? A hot shower is not bad in the winter but not in the summer. When turned all the way to the left where the most pressure is, you only get hot water. So do we need to replace this faucet (do they still make this type of faucet?) or is there an adapter we can purchase to correct this problem? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

the new shower control should be from off-cold-hot.

when you turn it on it shoudl be cold, and it gets hoter as you turn to left.

there is not adapter for this, the control was design to that.

Was the old handle a round knob style? New one go on with a set screw underneath or screwed on through the knob under a cap?

You do not mention what make faucet we are talking about.

Moen makes two styles of Shower valves
The one that you discribe is called a Posi-Temp the goes from off to cold and to hot as you turn the valve counter clockwise.
The pressure should be greater mid range ans the cold and hot water mix but generally not noticeable.

A Moentrol valve is that should have been iinstalled in order to have greater control on temp and pressure.
Moentrols work but turning the valve clockwise for cole and counter clockwise for hot and pulling out on the valve for the water to come on.

My pfister shower cold water faucet handle broke off. The stem is stuck so I can't replace the faucet handle. How do I remove this stuck portion of the old handle?

the model is needed for a step by step but. if your faucet is for a sink and not a shower then the handles may be connected to the pour spout or separate depending on model and in either case there is a nut screwed under the fixture that hold it in place. do not unscrew any of the faucet until you have turned of the water running to it.

I have two vanities and a shower in the bathroom. We only get hot water to the sinks when we turn on the shower to hot. Even if we turn off the shower we will still get hot water for a while. It just seems...

Check the water supply lines to the shower at the faucet handles. If the fitting for the hot water line connected to the handle is loose, it can twist and kink off the water supply further down the line when you turn the faucet handle. I'm not exactly sure how this could be relevant otherwise, but under normal design circumstances this type of scenario with your shower wouldn't matter for other faucets.

Leaks after shutting off

I need more information. What kind of show, double handle, single handle, the pout, the handle, the shower...it leaking. Have a single handle shower. I was pour out water.

When working with the plumbing be sure to turn the main water off.

Set a side a block of time where no one needs to use the bathroom or water. Single handle, take the outer ring off. The outer ring is what keeps the handle tight on the housing. Now, you should see two screws remove them. The handle should come out. You should see two inlets, in each inlet you should see sm. black rubber in them. replace them with new ones. reverse installation from above. and you should be good to go. turn the main water on.

Shower not hot

There is a handle limit stop under the handle. Remove the handle with an allen wrench and you should see a plastic piece with a tab on it fit into the assembly. Remove it and rotate it slightly to allow more travel in the handle and reinsert. You will have to test it to see if it allows enough hot water to mix in. If it is still not warm enough repeat as needed. Once you have the water at a comfortable temperature reinstall the handle and enjoy.

Hi rbyerly,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your problem is:
remodeled bathroom, installed new moen valve and hardware. Now water is coming from both the shower head and the faucet when the diverter is in the down postion. Question; Is this a single handle or three handle diverter? Assuming it's a three handle, it should just be a mater of adjusting the center handle. If single, the diverter is in the spout not the valve. I don't know how to direct you further without specifics. Feel free contact me again!
