512 MB memory boards do not work in my Fujitsu Lifebook S2020

I wanted to upgrade my Fujitsu Lifebook S2020 from 512 MB total memory to 1024 MB total memory. When I installed new 512 MB memory boards to replace the existing 256 MB boards, the computer would not boot.

I tried to test the new memory by installing 1 new board and 1 old board. The computer did boot, but the memory check found only the 256 MB, and did not see the 512 MB board.

The label on the new 512 MB board reads:
PC2700 DDR SDRAM
64M x 64 512MB
512UJURTUNAC

The board is listed as SODIMM DDR333 200pin ram

Do you think there is an incompatibility between the 256 and 512 boards, or is there some other action that I need to take.

I am having the same problem with my lifebook on s2020. I did run my system on crucial.com and it told me I have a lifebook s6010. It recommended using pc133, which is much more expensive. I am stuck and tired of returning different types of memory to the store.

I have compaq presario 5000 series...and iwant upgrade my ram ...i have 128+128 sd ram so how much i upgrade my ram...can i upgrade 512+512 sd ram OR 256+256 sd ram...thank you

the RAM upgrade will depend on ur motherboard capacity and specification.
u need to check ur MB manual
if ur MB can have only SD RAM then only SD RAM upgrade is possible...DDR will not work....
so be careful while buying ur RAM

intelD845GLLy MB...the following details are from the intel website

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d845glly/sb/CS-012825.htm

System Memory Features
The D845GLLY board provide the following memory features:
  • Two DIMM sockets supporting 3.3 V (only) 168-pin 133 MHz Single Data Rate (SDR) SDRAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts
  • Unbuffered non-ECC DIMMs only
  • Maximum total system memory: 2 GB; minimum total system memory: 64 MB
  • Serial Presence Detect (SPD) DIMMs only
  • Suspend to RAM
Caution Do not use ECC DIMMs with the Desktop Board. Using ECC DIMMs could damage the Desktop Board.
Integrator's Notes:
  • Registered DIMMs are not supported on the Desktop Board.
  • This Desktop Board has been designed to support DIMMs based on 512 Mbit technology for a maximum onboard capacity of up to 2 GB, but this technology has not been validated on this board.

Note To be fully compliant with all applicable PCI33 SDRAM memory specifications, the board should be populated with DIMMs that support the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) data structure. This allows the BIOS to read the SPD data and program the chipset to accurately configure memory settings for optimum performance.
hope this helps

Hi,

Make sure that you got the right memory module with this specs:

Memory
  • DDR266 (266 MHz) so-DIMM 200 pin
  • 2 DIMM slots; upgradable to 1 GB total memory (512 MB x 2)
or better go to this link http://support.fujitsupc.com/CS/Portal/supportsearch.do?srch=GUIDES

there's a step by step troubleshooting for memory modules. Also make sure you purchase memory module from Fujitsu or Authorized Fujitsu Dealers .

Help my pc is not detecting the correct amount of ram installed

Okay, first things first. IF the memory you installed is 1024 and you are using the on board video and it is 512 MB, you will only have 512 MB usable memory. This is because the on board video uses the installed memory to function. What ever the video memory is, subtract that form the total memory. If this is not the case, try re-seating the memory. If the numbers still do not add up then if there are four memory slots, make sure the memory is installed in the same color slots. Most desktops with 4 memory slots have two slots one color and the other two another color. Make sure both memory sticks are installed in the same color.

I want to upgrade my HP BA 600 Mother Board`s RAM Capacity

Hello,
Most likely your MB is too old for this upgrade although there is a chance you could flash your bios (reprogram your computer's brain to accept the new memory providing hp has a flash for it).
here is a link for the latest bios flash for your computer, use at your own risk.

RAM cuantity

The motherboard you mentioned supports DDR1 RAM.

For windows xp and general application 512 MB is enough.
But if you use memory intensive applications like image/video editing then you can opt for 1-2 GB RAM.

I have an hp pavilion ze4430us laptop. I am wanting to know how much memory that it will support. I am wanting to upgrade from 512 to as much as it will support.

hi,
The max memory supported by your computer is 1024 mb..
(1GB).
You can verify it here in this link
Also when you do this the already existing 512 MB may be gone without any use if they had provided you as 256+256 in seperate slots
