Cannot locate wireless switch

The wireless feature (Wireless LAN) on an Acer notebook allows you to connect to available networks. This convenience allows you to use the Internet with network cables, modems or network installation. Acer laptops come with a wireless switch to turn the wireless feature on or off. Once you enable the wireless feature, your Acer notebook can connect to wireless networks within range.

Instructions:
1.Locate the Wireless LAN switch located on the front of your Acer Notebook. Move the switch to the right to turn on Wireless connections.

2.Right-click the network icon located on the system tray next to the clock. You should see a list of available wireless networks.

3.Select the network you want to connect to and click "Connect."

Your router is a separate hardware
its the device that allows you to have internet
usually a small box, the wpa should be there on the router thats a password to access the
wifi network, if its not on a sticker call your service provider and also verify that your router has wifi

Follow these Instructions

Locate the Wireless LAN switch located on the front of your Acer Notebook. Move the switch to the right to turn on Wireless connections.

Right-click the network icon located on the system tray next to the clock. You should see a list of available wireless networks.

Select the network you want to connect to and click "Connect."

1. Any connection to your router will have to have permissions to connect.
2. check your manual for wireless device allowances.
3. you will have to go into the router via a GUI ( graphical User Interface) usually the IP address is 192.168.0.1
4. You will also need to know the WEP key and or the WPA key ( password) for your son to log on.
You router manufacturers web site will have step by step instruction on how to add wireless devices to your router.

Turn the Wireless Lan on its the button on the front edge, then search for wireless networks find your SSID usually the strongest signal and click connect you will need to input your WEP or WPA-PSK depending upon your router

try locating the wireless switch of your new Acer. It might be accidentally turned off thats why no available wireless network found in range

At the top of your key board right below the power button, there is a row of hotkeys the far left one is the wireless button.
