Hi, welcome to fixya!

You need to reset your sansa for it to be in order again.

Learn how to reset the your various San Disk models;

Resetting a Sansa Fuze+, Clip+, c200, e200, or e200R player:

1. Press and hold the Power/Menu button for approximately 20 seconds.
2. Release the Power/Menu button.
3. Press the Power/Menu button again to turn on the player.

Resetting a Sansa View, Fuze, or Clip player:

1. Slide and hold the Power switch up for approximately 20 seconds.
2. Release the Power switch.
3. To turn the player on, slide the Power switch up then release instantly.

Resetting a Sansa Express player:

NOTE: The device can be either ON of OFF.

1. Press-and-hold the Volume Up (+) and Select buttons simultaneously for approximately 20 seconds.
2. Release the buttons.

If resetting doesn't solve the problem, please let me know for more assistance.

SanDisk Sansa View 16gB

if the Sansa View is like the Sansa e200, then holding the power button for 10 or 15 seconds will force shut down the player. If it still says "connected" when you turn it back on, it might be a defective player. (most likely a defective connection.)

But before returning it to the store, you can also try updating its firmware. You can find what you need here:

Sandisk E250:stays on start up display!!!

I'm having the same problem - to turn it off so your battery doesn't run out, put it on hold.
