I need to connect my JVC GR D820 with a notebook, where did I download a driver ?

JVC have a FAQ page that might help, at THIS LINK. Question 8 is the one you want.

This type of camera usually downloads better with a Firewire (DV) connection. Some mini-DV cameras only use the USB connection for stills (if they have one) and can only download video by Firewire. This is because you have to play the tape into the computer, not just copy a file.

Most PCs have a USB port, but no Firewire port. Macs often have a Firewire port but may not have USB. You don't say what kind of notebook you have, but if it is a Windows one, you probably don't have a Firewire socket.

I have a jvc gr-dvl815 and the housing for the tape seems to be stuck and won't open. Is there a manual way to open it?

In this model, it's hard to access the mode motor to drive it manually. Open cassette door, see the motor on the left side try to access and drive it by 3V battery to its contact. Otherwise; send it to service center. Good luck

Jvc camcorder moel # gr-d22u

Apparently this same problem exists on many different models. I have a JVC grd72u. I called JVC @ 800-252-5722. I selected the "Corrective Action Program" prompt from the automated attendent. I spoke to a customer service rep. They are aware of the problem and are fixing it for free, but only until 12/31/07. I suggest you call ASAP and get your name in the computer. If the problem is something besides the CCD sensor, they will call you with the estimate to repair.
