Using a multi-meter check for continuity on the heating element, if element is good then check for continuity on the door switch, if this also checks out good then the heater relay located on the control board is likely gone, replace control board.

Whirlpool dishwasher WDF510PAYS dishwasher isn't drying. We're using a rinse aid and it's on the max setting and we are using high heat dry. Dishes are still coming out wet. Any suggestions?

Check the heating element in the bottom of the unit for any signs its damaged. If looks OK, check its continuity, for a short to ground, and the voltage at the terminals.

Dishes in top rack don't clean

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. First of all please check the Water temperature by using a thermometer inside the dishwasher to measure the water temp. It should be as close to 125 degree F to 140 degree F as possible. Now try using the temperature boost feature if your dishwasher is equipped with this cycle feature and check if this will help your wash ability issues.

Now check the Powder soap by making sure that you store your soap in a dry environment and it is not stale and clumping together. Possibly try a different detergent like a liquid or gel. Also, make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded.

To check the proper filling dishwasher will fill with water up to and around the heating element. If water is more below the heating element, you may have low water pressure or a problem with the fill valve. Try & listen if it sounds like it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.

For low water pressure, try to clean the screen at the entrance of the fill valve, sometimes the fill valve can fail and not allow the proper water into the dishwasher and may need to be replaced. And, check the spray arm and pump cover for splits or leaks. Also make sure that the water is draining and is not accumulated in the dishwasher, if it is in dishwasher then check for clogged drain hoses and drain pump.

Low water fills are a very common trouble maker with today's dishwasher.

Please do rate this solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

No hot water, plates cold and dirty and wet

If you've installed it recently make sure the hot water tap was plumbed in and not the cold water tap, check the hot water tap temp in the house to make sure it's getting warm, there also should be a heating element located inside of the dishwaher that heats up to help the dishes dry at the end of the wash cycle, which is controled by a thermostat. If the heating element or the thermostat are bad your dishes won't dry.

Whirlpool dishwasher is not fully drying dishes

Are you using jet dry or a similar drying agent? If not you should be. Also check to make sure the heater is getting hot in the dry cycle, just place your hand over the heating element to see if it's generating heat, don't touch it as it will burn you.

Dishwasher not drying

Same problem here. I read the manual very carefully. "OptiDry", "ExtraDry", "EcoDry", "condensation drying" -- lots of fancy words to cover the simple fact -- they DO NOT DRY the dishes. There is no heating element. I wish they would just state this up-front. Air drying the dishes for 24 hours after each wash is not workable for most users...
