Question about HP LightScribe dvd640i (DVD640I) DVD±RW Dual Layer Burner
If you mean, no sound when playing a disc in the player, you may not have connected the audio lead into the back of the player to the CD1 connector on the motherboard, likewise, you may not need to connect it if you have, as some of the latest dvd players play the sound through the ide cable to the motherboard onboard sound, which may cause problems if you have a seperate sound card fitted. You can also run this to check drivers, click start>run, then type 'dxdiag' and press enter and go to the sound tab to check for faults

Finally had to take it to Geek Squad. Apparently, Dell Dimensions only have an 80W power source & the DVD drive draws about 240W. So, something is fried. Bummer. Thanks anyway!
I bought a cpu with a CD writer in it. Once I got home and tried to play a store bought CD or burn a blank CD, no luck. I thought it was just a bad drive. Recently I purchased an HP 1040i LIghtScribe. Same deal, no media inserted or drive not ready. I have checked BIOS, my cpu recognizes the drive is there. It cam with Nero software. I am at my wits end. Could anyone out there give me the ultimate gift and tell me why and what I could possibly do to fix this.
