The printer goes through all self tests and alignment proceedures as is supposed to and evertthing appears to be working correctly, yet when I try to copy items via the copy button, my resulting printout has a strip of solid black about 3/4 of an inch wide on the printed copy. Any suggestions or solutions would be appreciated. Thanks!

You need to calibrate the printer. You are not supposed to skip this
process. After loading a new printer you need to do the calibration
without fail. You could get the black ink into work back. For this you
need to run 'Self Test Diagnostic'. Along with this you need to also run the 'Print Cartridge Alignment'. This would help you to get the black ink to work.
Ok now before hand I am warning you, this may just be a printer problem and so rate me as per the solution and not for the answer, cauz the printer ur using is a machine and Im a Human, two diffrent things altogether.

if this doesn't work call up hp tech support at 1800-474-6836 ,cauz there may be something wrong with your printer hardware and see if you can get a hardware upgrade for a 30-40% discount with an extended service plan at a 60-70% discount
Hi, this printer color cartridge contains all colors in one. So if you can print with one color means that the whole cartrige is ok but one or more colors ended. And you should had a low ink message on screen if it was genuine HP. Best thing to do is to go and buy a new one cartridge and see how it will go. This cartridge is green color.
Please print a self test page by following steps. Check all the colors printed perfectly. 1. Press Setup on the All-in-One and press arrow keys to select Print report menu and then Press Ok. 2. Then press Ok again to print a test page from the All-in-One.
