Question about Samsung SpinPoint P80 SP0802N 80 GB Hard Drive

SAMSUNG SV0411N HDD SHOWN ONLY 7.85 GB

I HAVE ONE 40GB SAMSUNG HARDDISK , SV0411N, . IT WORKS VERY PERFECTLY AT 2 YEARS , BUT YESTERDAY I REMOVE IT ADD OND ONE 80GB SAMSUNG HDD TO MY COMPUTER. AND I CONNECT THIS OLD 40 GB TO MY ANOTHER COMPUTER . BUT IT SHOWN ONLY 7.85GB .I FORMAT IT USING DOS AND DISKMANAGER . BUT STILL IT SHOWN ONLY 7.85GB AND IT WORKING PROPERLY, HOW CAN I GET THE FULL CAPACITY. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM OF MY HDD.

    i hav the same problem that my samsung svo411n hdd tht is of 40 GB space but unfortunatly it is jst showing a mere 4 GB space i tried to get into bios and then changed the heading and all other things but it didn't work at all. after changing the bios cfg it showed me the size of 475 GB but yet the problem remained the same i was not able to acess more then 4 GB please help me out

    i forget to to tell i have alsoformatted the drive abt 3 difrent times

You seem to have a hidden partition Have you used FDISK ? this can be downloaded just do a search You then need to remove all partitions - you seem to have only formatted part of the drive.

This hard drive is very old and the guarantee period is for one year from the date of purchase. Therefore it is no longer under warranty.
Seagate no longer manufactures a hard drive of 40Gb capacity, the hard drive are now over 100Gb in capacity.

Toshiba StorE ALU 3.5" external HDD stops out of the blue.

Toshiba could only replace my HD after destroying the data on it, So I just bought a separate empty HD casing instead and opened the Toshiba casing and took out the Western Digital Harddisk. The harddisk was perfectly working, It seems that the Toshiba controller in their casing got messed up. (Never a Toshiba for me, because by solving the problem myself in the appropriate manner I lost their useless warranty).

Are you trying to wipe the data from this hard disk by writing ones and zeros on the hard disk?
There are programs such as Wipedisk available on the Internet, do a Google search for such programs.

Samsung 80 gb Hard Disk Un allocated

All ways best to used new cables (sata/Ide) I like to set jumpers on the HD's never cable select. Also try installing one harddrive at a time. Second make sure in bios is set to boot from main HD.

I Lost 20gb from my 160gb harddrive

Hi, you aint lost 20gb. 1mb is 1024 1gb aint 1000mb for a example i have a 40gb hard drive here, it displays 34.3gb 200gb hard drive is usually 186gb its normal dont worry. :-) all the best John
