Panasonic D-Snap SV-AV100 Camcorder. No picture on LCD screen

Hi When I turn on my Panasonic sv-av100 camcorder all the menu screens can be accessed but there is no picture on the lcd screen. I am not able to make any videos at all. When I press record and playback the video all I have is a black screen with sound. I have of course removed the lens cap so that is not the problem. Can anyone help? Thanks Rob

Hi a bit late I know but it may help someone. If you can see the menu clearly on the screen but all the camera will shoot is a black image, the problem is a stuck Iris... see my article http://zyvid.com/smf/index.php?topic=449.0

I had a problem withthe auto focus not working.
i tried the reset button (under the lcd screen) you might try that
it did not work for me , so i took the battery out for a good long time weeks + .
when i found this site i was going to see if ther was any help, lo and behold the focus now works.....

try the reset , if that does not go, take the battery out for a while, (if you can wait a day or two)

Just to check - give the manual a read through but I suspect this is a component failure and needs a repair job.

PANASONIC D-SNAP SV 100

You need to upgrade the firmware, this will allow use of all cards that are fast enough if you are using a NTSC camera get it from http://zyvid.com/smf/index.php?topic=7.msg15#msg15 but if you are using a PAL camera let me know as I have a newer version than the one on the forum.
Be careful to download the right version there are three
Japan, USA and Europe
The Euro model is Pal and has no video in
the USA model has video in but no Japanese option in the language menu

Sv-av100 ---pc

You do not need software. Take SD card out of camera and place into card reader on pc. Drag movie files onto desktop or folder of your choice. At this point you simply need to change the file extension on your recorded movies to ".mpeg"

Play back, record from

The SV-AV100 and the SV-AV50 come with an A/V cradle that allows you to connect to external devices for recording and playback. The SV-AS10 and SV-AV25 are not equipped for this operation.
