If your caps lock is on, it will tell you in windows when you are typing in your password.

try reinstalling operating system from back up cd. If that do not resolve the problem, contact a good pc hardware engineer or chiplevel service engineer. They can solve the issue. Hope it helps

I met the same trouble, i just reset acer password by the following steps,
Step1.Download Smartkey Windows Password Recovery from recoverlostpassword.com anddecompress it on that PC. There is a .ISO file. Burn the .ISO file to CD or USBFlash Driver.Step2.Get out the newly created CDor USB Flash Driver and insert it to the locked computer.Step3. Re-boot the locked computerand then follow the process of instructions. Just after a few steps, the oldpassword will be removed.It can recover all Windows version.

Okay, first the password problem. Passwords are almost always case-sensitive now, so make sure that your caps lock is in the same state it was in when you first set the password. I have seen it happen that someone will set the password while their caps lock is on, then when they try to log in later with the caps lock off, they get a wrong password error. More often, though, is the opposite. You set the password with the caps lock off, and are trying to log in with it on.

The second problem is a little more complicated. First of all, the file InfraRecorderPortable_0.52.paf.exe is an installation file, which means it won't do the CD burning as it is. If you want to use the portable version of that software (for example, you have a friend that doesn't have that program on their computer, and they don't want it installed, but you still want to use it)you'll have to run the program and when it asks where you want to install it, select your USB stick. The hard drive password is setup from the BIOS configuration.
To remove the password you need to go into the BIOS configuration and you need to get the password from your brother.
There are no backdoor passwords, if you cannot get the password or guess the password then you need a new hard disk. If he has also set a BIOS password (you need this to get into the BIOS configuration), otherwise he owes you a new computer.

okay heres how u find what your lock code is... just type ##3282# on your phone then a screen will come and scroll down to ADVANCED (should be number 7) then go to LOCK CODE (should be number 5) and it will tell you =)

try booting to safe mode to boot it to admin mode and try to recreate the password.
if not succeded, go for a new install
