Check the filter capacitor to the power supply to vertical output section. Normally, this supply will be provided by LOT. Check the rectifier diode and smoothing capacitor. Replace all the electrolytic capacitors [5 or 6 of them] in the vertical output section. It will be the best remedy. Never forget to replace the supply smoothing capacitor described above.
Visit the site named 'Electro-help' for more details. Click this link. View it in "Timeslide" or "Flipcard" option, which can be selected from the drop down box menu by the [Sidebar] tag, at the top left corner of the display window. It will make search easy. SOURCE: how do i reset an apex tv set with model number

Hello

You are locked out I thinks. Try the following to override the locking.

Apex TVs use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The override code for many models is 6688. Other sets may not have one, or may have a default code of 1225 instead of an override code.

  1. To use the override code:
  2. Hit the MENU key to get to the menus
  3. Go down to the SYSTEM menu and hit the right arrow on the remote control.
  4. Once in the SYSTEM menu, go to PARENTAL GUIDE. It will ask for your code.
  5. Enter the override code listed above. From here, you can turn on and off different rating restrictions, as well as set a new code.
No matter what the V-chip code is set to, the override code will still work. If you have a blank screen with a red key on the bottom left, simply press the (function or F) button and the mute button at the same time. This will unlock the screen and allow you to view the channel as desired
OK.

Tv came in shop with shot down problem ,checks were made and a resister for the vertical supply was open..after replacing , set come on only with insufficiant vertical sweep at top and bottom.. am at my...

Have you checked all the solder terminals of the vertical output IC, for any loose contacts? Check it. Re-solder all the suspected solder terminals by applying a little more solder. Check all the low value capacitors at the vertical output section circuit. Replace all of it at once, with same capacitance and voltage ratings. If these do not help you, have to enter its service mode option to adjust the vertical height, linearity etc: By the way, what is the brand name to your TV? What is the number of IC used as vertical scan output. For more information: http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Daewoo dtq-206sc have retrace lines

if retrace lines at top of picture the issue is in the vertical circuit--usually a bad filter cap and or the output chip (most of the caps that cause that are 220 uf or 330 uf and connected directly to one pin on the chip.

If retrace lines are across entire screen---likely the master screen control on the Flyback is set too high--causes excessive brightness and the retrace lines.

TOP RETRACE LINES

What did you use to check the caps?

retrace can also be caused by the master screen being set too high.

Tv has horizontal lines on top of screen.

Hello
You are seeing vertical retrace lines on the top of your TV screen.
There are mainly three causes for it. I don't know the age of your TV. The first cause is due to the supply voltage lack to the video output state. You can check it on the picture tube base card. You haven't mentioned about the diamension of your TV screen. So it can be say as a guess. If your TV is 27", the voltage mantioned above will come to about 245VDC. If there is a great voltage loss, check the smoothing capacitor to that supply, will normally come to the value of 10MFD 450V.
The second one is, capacitor related to the vertical output stage of your tv. It is in the circuit board. Normally these capacitors are situated in an area, which will get hot during working. As s result, there is a chance to the value change of their capacitance. It is best to replace all of them, as it may not cost too much. Before desoldering it out, mark the value of each capacitor is best. Normally replacing the filter capacitor 3300MFD or so,to the power supply to the vertical output Ic will solve this problem.
The third is related with the vertical output Ic itself. Just check all the soldering points in the vertical output section of your tv board. Anyway, resoder all suspected soderings by applying a little more solder, as bad solderings to the legs of the Ic or some other components also may the cause. OK.

Several lines run across the top of the screen

Several lines acroos the screen at the top along with picture is a typical fault. You are seeing vertical retrace lines. Either the supply smoothing capacitor to the power supply given to vertical output Ic or vertical output capacitor connected to the vertical output pin of that Ic may faulty. Usually the supply smoothing capacitor seen faulty. It may be over 1500Mfd eletrolytic capacitor used there. It may get value reduced by 40 percent or so, this falult will occur. Please replace the two capacitors together and will get the result.

I have a panasonic tv with retrace lines at the topI

If you can locate the vertical IC you are nearby!. You will have to resoder the grounds on the vertical IC and any cap in the immediate area of this vertical IC is weak. I would replace them all as they will pull each other down. There may be four caps and the largest one, possibly a 25 volt 2200MF would be the only good cap. I dont have the specs on this set, but this will surely lead to a good repair!

White lines at top of screen - can't make go away

You have a problem in the vertical output circuit. Check for bad capacitors around the vertical output IC. The value of these caps are marked on the side of them. Thanks for using fixya. Please take a moment and rate this responce.

Vertical Height Problem

I work with electronics, too, and I don't have the exact schematics, but I would say that you are on the right track with thinking the capacitor is going bad. What put onto that idea how you mentioned that it had gotten worse over time. I don't think that it's the veritcal driver.
