Connect the usb cable to the pocket pc. then, with pc on, plug the opposite end to the pc usb port. then, open My Computer" icon on desktop and then find the drive letter associated with the pocket pc. for example, if your pc has only one hard drive and one cd-rom drive, then your pocket pc letter will be e:. double-click e drive and verify your pocket pc. then mouse-drag any files from outlook folder into the e: drive. they will be copied, by default. the originals will still be on the pc.

Connect to a Computer

You can wirelessly connect to your personal computer using an infrared connection.
You can physically connect your iPAQ Pocket PC to your personal computer using Microsoft ActiveSync and a USB cable.
You must have Microsoft Outlook to operate your iPAQ Pocket PC using Microsoft ActiveSync on your computer. If you do not have Outlook, install the Microsoft Outlook software from the HP iPAQ Pocket PC Companion CD.

Microsoft Outlook Express will not work with the iPAQ Pocket PC and ActiveSync.

I have a pock pc ipaq 5550 and i need to hook it up to another computer where can i find the software i need to download before hooking up to my computer

You must have either ActiveSync (for Windows XP) or WMDC (for Vista and 7) installed on your PC, in order to have your device synchronized. Take a look here, and download and install the program that better suits your needs. Then, connect your device and you will be prompted to set your sync partnership data.
Hope it works for you.
Cheers! Carlos

I AM TRYING TO SYNC MY HP iPAQ TO MY COMPUTER, BUT AN MESSAGE ERROR SAYS THAT 'RAPI.DLL' IS MISSING. WHERE I CAN DOWNLOAD 'ACTIVE SYNC' AND 'RAPI.DLL'

You can download the Microsoft ActiveSync from:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/activesync-download.mspx

This package contains the rapi.dll inside it.

Note: Microsoft ActiveSync is for windows XP and earlier version only. In case of Microsoft VISTA download Windows Mobile Device Center.

Is a compaq ipaq h3835 compatable with vista

No, you do not need an upgrade. You'll need to be download only "Windows Mobile Device Center" to your Vista PC instead of ActiveSync. (ActiveSync is not compatible with Vista, instead Microsoft changed the software a bit called "Windows Mobile Device Center" and can be downloaded from Microsoft's website.) Your Vista PC should also recognize your ipaq PPC without needing any driver CD. I hope it helps.

Palce where to insert sim card

It's not a phone. It's a pocket PC.
CAUTION: For synchronization to work properly, install Microsoft
ActiveSync on your personal computer before you connect your
iPAQ Pocket PC to your computer.
To install a CompactFlash (CF) or Secure Digital (SD) card into
an expansion slot on the iPAQ Pocket PC:
1. Locate the appropriate slot on the top of the iPAQ Pocket PC.
To identify slot locations, refer to the Getting Started
document that came with the iPAQ Pocket PC.
2. Before inserting a CompactFlash (CF) card into the CF
expansion slot, pull the plastic slot cover from the CF slot.
3. Insert the expansion card into the appropriate expansion slot
and push the connection edge of the card firmly into the
expansion slot.
✎If your expansion card is not recognized, follow the card
manufacturer’s instructions to install it.
✎For more detailed help, refer to the Help files installed on your
iPAQ Pocket PC. From the Start menu, tap Help > Connections.
✎To prevent power loss, remove any expansion cards from either
the CF or SD expansion slots before turning off the iPAQ
Pocket PC.

Hook up

Hey, what you need to to do is download an application called Activesync. It will open up as soon as you plug in your ipaq and I bet you the rest will be history. It worked for me.

Unresolved Items when synching

Try the following.... Open Active sync on your PC. Double Click on Calendar. Change the settings such that it syncs only 0 past and 0 future appointments. SYNC (this will clear all calendar items on the IPAQ) Now go back in to those Calendar settings, and set it back to the default which is 2 past weeks and All Future appointments. SYNC (this will now reload all appointments into your Ipaq)
