These are good recommendations if you can get it to boot into Windows properly. We cannot get past the black screen with NTLDR MISSING Error. Laptop has no floppy for boot disk either.

The "NTLDR is missing" error can sometimes occur when the boot.ini file is corrupt or missing but in your case it sounds like the HardDrive is the problem.

Try the Following:
Start>Run>Type "Cmd" and enter>Type "dir c:" and enter>Type "chkdsk" and enter. Your computer might promote you to chkdsk later Press "Y" and restart you computer

The Acer Aspire series usually have a eRecovery manager than ables you to burn 2 recovery disk which you should have done when you first got the laptop. Since you haven't done that you'll have to buy new recovery CD/DVD

OR you can try the following.

Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore. Choose a restore point that goes back to before your NTLDR problem started.

Please Rate, Thanks.

Driver philips cdrw/dcd scb5265

Hey,

There are no drivers required for cd or dvd drives in windows 2000, xp, or vista.

If you have a error message code 39 drivers missing or corrupt, then follow this guide on how to fix it http://www.fixya.com/support/r548399-fix_non_working_cd_dvd_shows_in_device

Basically there are no drivers for you, they always come with windows and if they are "missing" then theres almost noting you can download to fix it, please use the recovery discs to fix the computer or install windows again from the original windows cd.

Thanks and good luck.

Acer Aspire 5720-6438 recovery cd/driver cd

if you need drivers, you can download it from www.acerpanam.com.
for recovery cd, i don't think acer have it online, you need to order it from them.

FYI, if you haven't delete the partition in your hdd, you can use alt+f10 to re-install your Operating system and after that, you can create your own recovery cd.
