External monitor issues with Toshiba Advanced Port Replicator III

If your Laptop has a "Latitude C/Port Advanced Port Replicator" Then this Port Replicator connects Dell Latitude notebooks to peripheral devices such as a monitor, printer, keyboard and mouse. To accomplish this, connect your peripheral devices to the Dell port replicator itself, and leave them connected to it. Then connect your notebook to the port replicator to access the devices without having to attach them individually each time you want to use them. You can also set up speakers on the Dell Latitude C/Port port replicator to provide improved quality audio.

Follow following steps:
1) Place your Dell Latitude notebook in your C/Port Advanced Port Replicator and turn on the notebook using the power button.

2) Place the speakers you want to connect to the port replicator on either side of the port replicator according to the Left and Right (L and R) labels on the speakers.

3) Plug the audio line connector from the speakers into the audio line out plug on the port replicator. The audio line out plus is on the right-hand side of the port replicator base next to the infrared port, directly opposite the notebook ejection lever.

4) Plug the power cable from the speakers into a power outlet if needed. Battery-powered speakers will not require this. Turn on the speakers following the manufacturer's instructions.

5) Open your preferred music or audio software (such as Windows Media Player or iTunes) on your Dell Latitude notebook and play an audio file to hear the newly-attached speakers.

Hi there,
you should try plugging from the output port of the laptop to the input port of the docking station, remember the source is coming from your laptop going to the docking station.
Now for the microphone once you have the settings right the line in jack should work properly.

I would contact toshiba.com and speak to their technical department as I am sure I have read a bullitin about that issue by way of an updated driver and BIOS firmware update.

Any damage caused by force is abuse.

Press Fn+F10 to toggle the display back and forth on the laptop screen and external monitor. Pressing the keys a third time would close the display on both displays. Thanks, Abhishek.

Any webCam Should work with any communication tools on your computer, for your convinience, try to run it on other cam chat like Y!Messenger or Skype. IF it works fine, the sanwa should work fine too! GoodLuck!

Did you try the Toshiba site? You will need to know the exact model name and number of your laptop to get the correct manual. Yours should be a Satellite, but the L40 may have additional sub-model numbers:

It looks like this a problem for the Port replicator III, not II, right? I'm not an expert on port replicators, but if you have even an ok video card, it should work fine even running all three...
