Compaq Presario V6210 USBs not working: I have flashed Bios. no place in Bios to turn them on, redid some drivers for HP, no luck

I have checked USB Ports in Device manager, reinstalled them, originally thought it was a mouse problem so checked that and found out no USB ports were working, uninstalled in device manager, restarted machine, didn't help, went to HP and they didn't have drivers just for the USB, flashed the Bios, checked BIOS for settings for USB, none. Now I'm at a loss. OS is Vista home Premium -32 bit. AMD Turion64

I also upgraded a new Compaq C751NR from Vista to XP, and the last yellow tag in device manager was-acpiHPQ0006

I used the driver from ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp38001-38500/sp38171.exe

and used the 'setup.exe' in the folder. Worked perfectly.

They are right, some DVs have this problem. If you can live without the ports, then do it. If you can't, replacement is the only option.

Please kindly reply me, My Hp Compaq Presario CQ61 would flash the caps lock light severally thereby preventing the system from entering into bios. This would last for a while.

Go to this link that is for your PC.

http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html

Select "Troubleshooting"
Type in or copy/paste your PC - Compaq Presario CQ61 (Look for the US version)
Then type in your problem at - "Key Word or Questions" Caps Lock Light Blinks

Follow instructions from HP Site that basically say shut it down, remove a/c, remove battery, press power button for 30 seconds. disconnect all usb and other connected devices. then insert battery and turn on.
Hope this helps'

HP/Compaq NX5000 - USB ports register "power surge" problem with 1 flash drive, does not register other USB devices

This is one of about 4 thhings that can cause this problem.
The bios could be glitching out on you.
One of your usb ports has cracked or broken solder causing an arcing condition(most likely cause).
Usb driver corruption.
First try the BIOS fix, see if that works.
Unplug the laptop, and take out battery.
With no power to pc, hold power buttom in for approxamitely 30 seconds.
Release power button, replace battery, and plug laptop back in.
Try to reboot and see if it now works properly.
If not, then unless you are willing to take the laptop apart, then you will need to take it to an authorized HP/Compaq service center and have them re-solder your usb jacks in place.

Like I said, this is the most likely problem, as usb jacks, like power jacks, are notorious for breaking solder connections due to the movement of the socket with whatever is being plugged into it.
For ubd drivers, insert your system resource disk, and re-install your usb drivers.
If you don't have a disk, you can go to the HP/Compaq website and manually fdownload the drivers as well.

HP Compaq Presario V6030 usb ports don't work, is this something I can fix with drivers or can they be replaced.

First try these steps
1.Remove all the usb devices connected, then go to device manager and under Universal Serial Bus controlers uninstall all the usb root hub and then restart the computer
2. If it still doesnt work do a bios update from hp.com for your notebook and then restart and do a bios default too.
3. If these steps doesnt resolve the problem do a recovery and even after recovery the NBs usb ports doesnt work then mother board needs to be replaced as the usb ports are fixed in it.

Usbs not working. am37 motherboard. Updated to the newest bios that I could find (Bios 3.20). Compaq Presario 6400NX. Im running 1gb of ram.

Remove bios battery and erase new bios (usually a pair of pins to short). If USBs now work - don't upgrade bios! If bios settings have no setting for diabling USB, motherboard failrure seems likely. Try a PCI USB card to provide sockets.

Usb ports don't work

Reinstall your USB drivers:
Navigate to Device manager, find a branch named "USB Controllers" or similar
Right click the one thats the problem (or all of them if you dont know which), select Uninstall
Reboot your machine and windows will autodetect the USBs and reinstall their drivers.
