Mine won't read anymore either, but I may have narrowed it down to the motor itself. With the cover off, I've found that when it tries to read the disc, the disc isn't spinning. If I give it a push to start spinning, it will read the disc. So I think it may be the motor that has gone out, but I haven't verified this yet. I need to find a place to get the part.

DVD Player stops reading disc Error message :

usually this happens when lens cannot read the the disc. Due to few reason 1 Your disk is scratched 2 Your DVD lens is covered with dust 3 You need to replace DVD lens
Try another few CD/DVD to rectify whether there is any problem with dvd you are trying to play
if this error occurs on all the dvd you played then the most likely proble is with your DVD lens either its coverd with dust use Disk cleaner if not you got to replace a new DVD lense as per model

I have a Sony Psyc CD Walkman D-Ej010 and I will have a cd in there at it will play for a few minutes and then stop and say no-disc. What could be the problem?

There may be a couple of reasons why a NO DISC , DISC ERROR or INSERT DISC error may appear in the display of your CD player. Try doing the following steps to troubleshoot why the error is displayed:
  • For disc players with a HOLD switch, make sure to move the switch to the OFF position.
  • Verify that the disc being used is supported by the CD player. NOTE: CD players do not support VCD or DVD discs. In addition, some CD players do not support CD-R or CD-RW discs that are created by a CD burner. For information regarding disc compatibility with your player, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the product
  • Ensure a disc has been inserted into the player. Make sure that the disc is inserted correctly, with the playback side of the disc facing down on the disc tray.
  • If the disc still does not play, attempt to play a different, commercially-produced disc.
  • NOTE: If more than one of the commercially-produced discs do not play, verify whether the discs are extended-length discs. Some players are not able to play discs where the recording exceeds the standard 74 minutes. If the recording of the disc is longer than 74 minutes, it is possible that some of the specifications of that disc were compromised and therefore, the CD player will not recognize that disc.
  • If the disc is dirty with fingerprints or smudges, or if the disc is scratched or broken, the CD player may not recognize the disc.Clean the disc using a soft, dry cloth.
  • Properly reinsert the disc into the player.
  • Attempt to play the disc again.
  • Only press the PLAY button once. If the PLAY button is pressed more than once, the disc may stop playing.
  • If the disc is still not recognized, remove the disc and leave the CD player powered on for approximately one hour to resolve the possibility of moisture condensation inside the player.
  • Please use a Lens Cleaning disc and check if that helps.

If the issue persists, please click hear to locate the repair facility near your area.

Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require any clarifications.

DVDs & CDs will not play

If you are playing STANDARD CD or regular DVD that you have purchase and you are having this problem, your dvd player is malfunction;however,if you are playing DVD burner disc or a different dvd region disc(we are region 1 in U.S.) that is no going to work.Same thing for your CD burner disc,it might not work.
If you are using a rental dvd disc, check and see if there is scratches? If so,try to get one without that many scratches!

Problem with original dvd

Before performing any operations, make sure of the following: ? Check the connection with the TV. ? Turn on the TV and select the correct input on the TV to view the pictures or on-screen indications on the TV screen. ? For DVD playback, you can change the Setup menu setting to your preference menu... Alos, make sure thay the system and disc region code numbers are incompatible: The following discs cannot be played back: ? DVD-Audio, DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-ROM, CD-I, (CD-I Ready), Photo CD, etc. Playing back these discs will generate noise and damage the speakers. * Note on Region Code DVD players and DVD Video discs have their own Region Code numbers. This system can play back DVD discs recorded with the color system of NTSC and PAL whose Region Code numbers include ?3.?
