Question about Motorola Radio Communications

Motorola TLKR T3 one way not working but Monitor works...

I have a couple of T3 radios. suddenly one Radio doesn't receive (or the other doesn' transmit). If I switch the 'monitor mode' on I can hear the voice! In normal mode I cannot get the 'call tone' or any signal at all. The opposite way works perfect. Can you suggest?

I turned off this device a year ago.
A year later I put in new batteries ... they turn on, but don't communicate. Could the problem possibly be the same? Thanks in advance

Check your Private Line (aka interference eliminator code, tone code, PL, quiet call). It sounds like you have one radio set with a PL setting and the other one is open squelch (no private line). All settings for frequency and PL code need to be the same between the two radios.

We don't have a manual for the T3, but I am attaching one for the T5, which may be similar. http://www.motorola.com/web/Business/Products/Two-Way%20Radios%20-%20Unlicensed/_Documents/TLKR-T%20series/Static%20Files/T5%20Manual%20EU.pdf

Best regards.

There is a Filter inside this Device that fail to work. The serial of this filter is: WM50T. Here is link with the datasheet:http://www.qsl.net/icom/download/p05e9.p... You will need some authorized personnel for changing this Filter! I have 2 Motorola's T3 and had the same problem, no reception! and i change this filters in both of the T3's and now are working again.

In time this filters will fail to work again, and this because of the defectuous design implemented by Uniden and sold to Motorola. Design does not protect the filter from DC voltage and electromigration appears inside the filter.

Your PL or DPL is not set correctly.

Check your owners manual, you can set this with the user buttons on the radio.
Press and hold the PTT button while turning the radio on. this will put the radio in the programing mode.
Be careful, if you do not know how to set the PL DPL or frequency you could make the problem worse.

You have your interference code eliminator set differently on the two radios. Here is a link to the T5 user guide (sorry I didn't have a link to the T3, but they should be very similar): http://www.gouldelectronics.co.uk/product-downloads/T5-20Manual-20EU.PDF

Check your programming. The frequency and code must be identical on the two radios. Here is a link to the user guide http://www.gouldelectronics.co.uk/product-downloads/T5-20Manual-20EU.PDF

The description you give is indiciative of the code being set differently between the two radios. For basic operation set the code to off (zero).

By checking initially of your radio, insert your NEW FULLY CHARGE BATTERY,Switch On your radio, select the channel the same as your other working radio, and try it once more,
If you can not heard an alert sounds when you turn on the radio, and pressing any Button/key,probably you'll having a problem on the audio circuits/speaker,etc, if it is working before,

Motorola talkabout MJ270R switching off when transmitting

Turning off while transmitting is typically a sign of a weak or bad battery. However, since you mention it happens with either battery type, another cause might be the length of time you are depressing the PTT button. These radios have a fail-safe to prevent damaging the final amplifier of the radio. To protect itself the radio will shut down or stop transmitting after the PTT button is held in too long. This being said, I'd check the batteries first. The rechargeable battery pack which came with the radio has a one year life expectancy. A battery can test full when it is weak and might not hold the charge when placed under a load. And usually transmit is the first thing to fail.

Hi, i have 2 TLKR-T3 and i cant tune it ,so what can i do? and how can i reset it? thanks in advance

Try setting the radio back to a simple mode of operation. Shut off all special features such as the sub-code (interference eliminator code), VOX, room monitor, and call tones. Go to just one basic channel, such as channel one. Then check to see if the radios talk to one another. If not, check your battery packs, as it takes more energy to transmit than to receive. Swap battery packs and see if the problem moves to the other radio. And lastly, get a third radio involved to see if one of your radios is simply defective.

Motorola FV500 2 way radio can send/cant receive

Do you hear the Beeps on the speaker? Check for the QT and the code squelch are the same in both radios, try to set code squelch in "0". Make sure that the radio is not receiving or the other one is not transmiting, with two radios will see the same.
