Tomtom 15 set time

If you couldn't reset it holding the power button for 1 minute, yor Tomtom is defective and you should take it for service

For the TOMTOM XXL540 while connected to your PC hold the poer button down for about 15 or 20 seconds the device will shutdown then restart when reset

Assuming you bought your TomTom BRAND NEW in a TomTom box, I don't think it will be free, depending on the specific offer you got inside your GPS box. In most cases, it's just a discount. TomTom maps are around $100 for 4 quaterly updates (4 updates in one year). My TomTom came with a $15 discount, no free maps. Your offer may be different.

Have used the TomTom a couple of times but it will not turn on now . Have tried holding the button down for 15 seconds to see if that would work but nothing happened can you give me some advice. TazTaz

You might want to try updating your TomTom through TomTom Home. It loads something called "QuickFix" onto the TomTom, which I guess tells the TomTom where GPS satellites are going to be. I get a fix in about 5-15 seconds if I keep this updated, otherwise it takes a few minutes.

Resetting factory settings does just that it resets the operating system it does not reset or fix map problems

preferences. Obviously you can't do that now.

To do a soft reset on a ONE 530, just hold down the power button for about 15 seconds. You'll see the tomtom reboot and it will play the little drums sound.

Be careful when you follow the instructions. Where it says not to delete the folders, it also should say not to open the folders and delete anything.

To reset your TomTom device, do the following:

1. Check that the battery is charged properly.
   Charge your device for at least 2 hours before trying to turn it on again. Make sure the charging light on your device is on.
   
   
2. Remove the SD card
   If your device uses an SD card, remove it.
   
   
3. Reset your device.
   Use a straightened paper clip, or something similar, to push the reset button for 15 seconds. See the pictures below for where to find the reset button.
   
   
4. Turn your device on.
   Press the On/off button for at least 5 seconds.
   
   
5. Insert the SD card
   If your device uses an SD card, insert the SD card.
   

The rest button is on the top of the GPS

To change the time on your TomTom, simply tap the map screen then tap "change preferences", tap the forward arrow intil you see "set clock". Tap "set clock" and set the time and tap "done"

Hold down the power button for approximately 15 seconds. Then the unit will rebott automatically. I just did this, and it worked.
