Question about HP PSC 1610 All-in-One Printer, Scanner, Copier
I buy recycled cartridges from a local group. When first installed, they print fine for about 5 small print jobs. When trying a new print job, I get the error message, "check color print cartridge." Or something of the sort. New cartridges work a short time and do same thing. So apparently either the amount of ink being inserted is very small, or the cartridges partially dried out, or my printer will not "allow" non HP cartridges. Which do you thin? and how to solve the issue if it is the latter.

Theres a pretty sure bet when the fuel light comes on in your car, fuel will fix it, its a bit like that these cartridges fixs most things expesally if you have never changed it in a year and a half, Exp date is shelf life, End life of cart. is out of ink or error, Machine uses colour ink when cleaning regardless if you use it or not that just uses more With all that being said I've also had these with cartridge housing problems causing the fault vay rarely And then if you look at prices of new inkjets with a years warranty and new inks against the just the price of both your inks then I think you may Buy another.! If you get 3 years out of a inkjet your doin extremly well, machines dont last and arnt meant too! If you rarely do colour I would tell you to look at a B/W Laser printer instead, inkjets are expensive to run, cheap to buy fail a lot Laser machines run so so so much cheaper like 2cent compared to 20c a sheet, they are reliable, if you really need a colour print go to print shop and receive reletavely cheap quality colour prints or use a friends and let them have the problem of supporting an inkjet. Laser toner based machines are now as cheap as inkjets but better except they dont do colour.

hi,
as you are using a refilled cartridge, it is causing this problem. the thickness of ink in a hp genuine cartridge and a refilled cartridge varies. and also the refilled cartridge may make your printer faulty. so it is good to try with a new hp genuine ink cartridges.
thanks and regards

Same problem with me.
So:
I openede the whole box ( 4 screws ) in the corners. Then I presed the tiny belt on the left side to its socket, cleaned the contacts of the cartridges (56,57) with water and made them dry.
Then I reched the position of the small door which is ment to be opened once you wnat to replace the cartridge.
After this the printer works again.

SOURCE: The printer doesn't recognize the new original HP color cartridge
There is a small spring that holds the ink cartridge in the ink holder. You will see it stick out from the right hand side of the ink holder where the ink cartridge slides in. If that spring isn't being held to the ink holder by two plastic tabs, (I.E. the plastic tabs are broken) the printer will never recognize the cartridge. If the printer is still under warranty I would contact HP or an authorized repair center for HP. Both the black and color ink holder has this spring. I know of no way to repair this kind of breakage.

Have you tried replacing the cartridges all together? That worked for me. I use HP 96 and 97 cartridges.
