id check and reseat memory ram first. it should give you a beep sound for error. if nothing, then check video card and hard drive. you can also remove everything (ram, hard drive, cd or dvd rom) then restart and see if it gives a beep error.
With severe Disk problem, put your media player in USB disk mode and use Windows Explorer to attempt to repair it: Open Windows Explorer -> drive 'Properties' -> Tools -> Error-Cheking -> Check now -> Tick all options -> Start If errors are detected and repaired, some of the files will now be corrupted and you may need to re-install the firmware or do a 'hard reset'. ps. If too many errors are detected, I would strongly suggest that you backup your player files to your PCLaptop if possible and re-FORMAT your player hard disk.
I have a Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1600. I have a comcast digital box hooked up to my PC. Signal is bad and black and white media. I installed the "current" driver two weeks ago (mid October) Work great! We had to perform a PC recovery. I downloaded the "current" driver. Got weak signal and black and white only.
Check your LAN settings by going to Internet Options, select "connections" then LAN settings, then check the box that says "automatically detect settings". Click okay, and that should fix your problem. You have that have those options enabled to let some common programs detect your internet connectivity.
