Menu randomly pops up while pushing no buttons....
For some reason, the menu to change monitor settings will randomly pop up and block my screen for 30 or so seconds at a time. Sometimes this will happen every 3 or 4 minutes, but not usually that often. Hitting the buttons on the monitor will not make the menu go off and I'm actually not even sure if I am able to change the settings for the monitor.
Also, related and almost just as annoying, when I try to turn off my monitor, say while the computer is still on because I won't be using it for a bit, hitting the power button will not turn off the monitor but instead bring up the settings menu. Nothing will make menu go off and eventually get fed up with trying to turn off my monitor. Sometimes hitting the power button 15 or more times will eventually turn it off, but it's a major pain.
Any help would certainly be appreciated. I believe I still have time on my warranty, so if that seems like the best option than so be it. I figured that I would try here first. Thanks...

1
Push the "Menu" button on the front or side of your Dell
monitor. The button's icon resembles a miniature monitor. This will open
the main monitor setting menu. Push the button again to exit the main
menu and open the OSD menu.
2
Push the "Down Arrow" button on the monitor to scroll
through the OSD menu. Stop at "Factory Reset." Push the "Menu" button to
open the factory reset menu.
3
Push the "Down Arrow" button to select "Position Settings
Only" to reset the monitor's horizontal and vertical screen settings.
Press the "Menu" button to activate the setting changes.
4
Push the "Down Arrow" button to select "Color Settings Only"
to reset the monitor's red, blue and green color settings. Press the
"Menu" button to activate the setting changes.
5
Push the "Down Arrow" button to select "All Settings" to
restore the monitor to its original factory settings. Press the "Menu"
button to activate the setting changes.
6
Push the "Up Arrow" button to select "Exit" to leave the
monitor reset menu. Press the "Menu" button to exit the OSD menu. Push
the "Menu" button again to exit the main settings menu.
That is the OSD (On Screen Display) system built-in to your computer monitor. Check that when you hit the ON/OFF button on your monitor, that you do *NOT* hit the 'OSD ON/OFF' button.
Most of the time, the OSD will disappear after 10 seconds of "non-use".
Check the menu button on your monitor. Chances are it is stuck in the depressed position. (Sometimes an edge of the button will get caught beneath the frame.)
Same problem here. I've had this monitor almost two years with no
problem until this morning when it started flashing the menu screen and
nothing I do will make it stop. Oh well, it was only a hundred dollars.
I guess this is emachine's way of saying, "you got your money's worth,
now throw this piece of junk away and get another", lol. And therein lies the solution! :)
If you can do the factory reset in the pop up menu, try it. You might have to try with another power supply, cord, or computer and check where the problem is.
When you load the splash screen of Diablo enter into settings. Make sure you have the game set to the screen resolution you want.
For the system. Open display properties. Click Settings, click Advanced, click Monitor. (Most games require 60 hertz) to run correctly. Change your monitor to 60 hertz. Than click the Adapter tab. Click list all modes. Move the slide bar to your normal screen res with 60 hertz. Click ok at every screen as you back out od display properties. That should stop your game from popping up.
