Question about Neoware CAPIO 620 (cp4h-bb-aa0) Network Terminal

1 Answer

Outlook Printing Problem

I am the network analyst for Westlake Hardware. We use Neoware Capio 620's in our stores. A district manager was trying to print to a store the other day(His login, their Neoware unit). I shadowed him with EZremote. He opened outlook and printed a document on his email. I watched him select print, The vertical list of all our store printers come up, choose 53's (store 53) printer, and print successfully. Then he chose a random different email, chose print again, but this time a horizontal list of printers came up, missing the needed printer along with others. Tried different emails and nothing made since why some worked properly, while others did not? I am stumped, I would appreciate any help on this. Thanks Jason

I have a Neoware CA10, but I can't get into the Bios. In fact, I can't get into anything, no OS, no Bios.

do you hear the speaker beep when power is on?
If no beep first try resetting the BIOS with the use of the jumper inside the unit, if it's still not working, try removing the RAM module, if you hear beep's replace the defective RAM module, if it still not working than sorry IT'S DEAD

Good luck!

Terminal Capio 620

The BIOS don't support USB bootable devices even with the LEGACY option ENABLED (it's only for keyboards or mouse), but ther is a way, open the box and you will notice a IDE heather on the board, the problem is it's not a standard 40 pin IDE heather, it's a mini IDE like for laptop HDD's, so what i did is i've purchessed two IDE adaptors from MINI do standard IDE, spliced the power cable for powering the devices, conected a standard flat 40 pin IDE ribbon cable to both adapters and VOILA i have a verry thin silent computer with a 15GB (MASTER) hard drive and a 52X CDROM (SLAVE), obviously with that hardware i can't close the box anny more but i'm running LINUX (DSL) fine.

cheers!

Neoware thin client password recovery Windows CE

OK first off I don't know anything about this device, But I can tell you most OS level passwords I have dealt with are stored in the OS by way of a battery on the main board. If you open the unit and remove the battery and wait about 15 minutes, then reinstall the battery and close everything back up. Then turn it on and see what you get.
Has worked for me in the past On laptops.
You may have to try and leave the battery out overnight and then try it.

Use of USB ports

As i answered an other blog, there is no updates what so ever for capio 620 the ownly interesting thing you can do is turn it into a small PC with a hard drive and a CDROM
The BIOS don't support USB bootable devices even with the LEGACY option ENABLED (it's only for keyboards or mouse), but ther is a way to upgrade to a small LINUX OS, open the box and you will notice a IDE heather on the board, the problem is it's not a standard 40 pin IDE heather, it's a mini IDE like for laptop HDD's, so what i did is i've purchessed two IDE adaptors from MINI do standard IDE, spliced the power cable for powering the devices, conected a standard flat 40 pin IDE ribbon cable to both adapters and VOILA i have a verry thin silent computer with a 15GB (MASTER) hard drive and a 52X CDROM (SLAVE), obviously with that hardware i can't close the box anny more but i'm running LINUX (DSL) fine.

Enjoy!
