I bought two sansa san disk m230's at Easter time for my children and they still do not work correctly. First my WMP10 does not recognize either player and secondly you cannot add any music to either. Sometimes you can see the devices in My Computer and sometimes you cannot. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both WMP and the m230's and nothing works still. I have been troubleshooting for months and am frustrated. I also have a sansa san disk e130 and that works fine. Thank you in advance for any help with this!

1. Go to MY COMPUTER and find which drive letter is allocated to the sansa (usually it's F).
2. Click on Start
3. In the menu click on Run
4. Type "CMD" and Enter
5. Type the Letter of the sansa drive followed by ":" (see section 1. For example F:)
6. Type "Delete" and Enter
7. Choose Yes

>if you have the data cable means connect it with the computer
>Then go to the My computer and there you can find a removable drive it might be with the name of san disk
>opened that drive and you can find the music folder over there and from there you can remove the music files
............All the best
Well, is it in MTP mode or MSC mode (menu > settings > USB)?
If it's in MTP mode, Windows Media Player should recognize it.
If it's in MSC mode, it acts like a USB thumb drive.
You should be able to add music in either mode, but I've found MSC mode simply doesn't work, though it once seemed to. Also, the Sansa m230 will not work with USB 1.1, only 2.0. Next time, I'm getting something Rockbox runs on!
We had the same problem with Windows XP. We found some help on the Sandisk web site. On the device go to the Settings menu, then USB. We changed from AutoDetect to MSC mode and everything is working again. Our computer saw all of the songs on our computer fine. Some of the old songs on the Sansa didn't show up on the detect list in Windows Media Player, but they were still on the device.
hi me too had the same problem, but for me it was not working merely more than four months and today(2007 june 12) finally i tried it with my PC. What i did i connected it with my PC with locking the device (using the hold button in the opp side of the menu button it has to show the orange face once u pushed it off)more than one hour with the screen of "San disk Initilizing", after an hour i tried with san disk firmware and many tools nothing to do.
Finally what i did "realy its amazing to u all, even u people cant beleive it, but it is true", simply i pressed the menu button twice or thrice and no result then i had beat the device it has been worked fine its showned the screen as USB connected by MSC.
Your problem is probably beacause you accidently deleted "AudibleActivation.sys" from your "Audible"-folder. Format the sansa and then use "reset to factory settings" to make the file appear again. It might be a good idea to make a backup on your hard drive, just in case, and make the file hidden.
