The fridge was warm and there was frost build up on the back panel of the freezer. The repair man changed out the jazz board. And now it is happening again. He put the old jazz board in for now. Why does this keep happening? It's not the jazz board.

You need to replace the defrost thermostat located on the coils in the freezer. Here is the part to order.

SOURCE: Freezer cold- Fridge not. Ice build up on freezer

I really believe your adaptive defrost located inside the fresh food compartment and inside the control panel is defective. It puts your refrigerator on a timely defrost and if defective this problem you listed in your post happens. Yes we may need to also check the defrost heater and defrost thermostat but with my experience with that type of Adaptive Defrost Control is famous for its failure.
ADAPTIVE DEFROST CONTROL Part Number 61005988 You can find it located on two of my websites. Some models like yours came with a Defrost Timer. We will need just look inside the control panel and see for sure. Here is a photo of the Adaptive defrost. If you should need to contact me please send an email or try to answer here. Problem is I don't get notifications when someone comments. [email protected]
Please rate and ask me as much as you like. Thank You, Sea Breeze

SOURCE: fridge not staying cold

Solo, firt make sure you do not have a build up of frost on the freezer inside panel. This would indicate a defrost problem. Your post states that the cooling problem is intermitant which leads me to believe that the automatic damper is at fault. It could have a build up of ice on it which is causing it to bind, or it could just be going bad. Your model does have the manual defrost timer which could be sticking at times, that is why I suggest checking the back freezer panel for frost buildup. Catriver..post back.

SOURCE: Warm fridge, cold freezer

I had the same problem. There was tons of ice build-up in the freezer back wall which prevented the cold air from flowing into the refrigerator section. I removed all the products from the freezer, and melted the ice - even took off the back panel (lots of ice back there). It solved the problem.

Fridge is warm freezer is cold

Hello Abo Karin,

You are likely experiencing a DEFROST failure
(most commonly a defrost PCB failure)...
part number 67006740 item 5 on your exploded
case view (top center as viewed from the front).

There are typically only three (3) elements to a DEFROST
power control circuit:
- Defrost Printed Circuit Board ( PCB as noted above)

- Heater element to WARM the EVAPORATOR

- DEFROST thermostat... inhibit excess heat
(closed circuit at freezing - Opens at room temperature)

Check your defrost pan...
there should be water there DAILY...

IF not: you are assured that your DEFROST fails.

Per your DESCRIPTION...
You need to look for a SUDDEN REASON (huge air leak)
why FROST would form so quickly...
USUALLY a big pizza box... BUT ANYTHING blocking a
TIGHT DOOR SEAL will cause massive frosting.

It is taking moisture from the WARM ROOM AIR and blocking your evaporator...

a PROPERLY functioning defrost circuit would remove that frost
at least DAILY... and the EVAPORATOR fan would properly chill the refrigerated side blowing cold air from the FREEZER.

Yes ... all INTERIOR panels must be in place for the refrigerator to function properly.

Hope this helps

Why won't my samsung rb193kasb freezer fan run and the freezer is warm? How do i fix this?

On some Samsung frdge-freezers,fan blades get stuck in ice build-up inside refrigerator compartment due to automatic de-frost not working properly. If you have time, simply switch off and leave fridge door open, and allow defrost to happen naturally. Alternatively, speed up defrost using bowls of hot water, and remove panel at back when enough ice has melted

Amana fridge freezer AS2628HEKB fridge warm & freezer frosty inside

The board should be replaced before the unit will operate properly. Be sure to check out all circuits to make sure there is not some kind of short. If there is, it may burn out the new board also.

My fridge part of fridge/freezer doesn't work

Post the model number of the refrigerator. Defrost freezer behind where the cold air circulates with a hair drier. (unplug power first!) Most times when a refrigerator side stops cooling it is because the freezer evaporator behind the panel in the back of freezer (most times) has become blocked by frost=> SEE PHOTO Most times the panel before you see the frosted covering the evaporator will begin to show a layer of frost building=> SEE PHOTO (Click each photo to enlarge.) Sometimes the fresh food section of the refrigerator side will warm because ice or frost will block the damper from moving that regulates temperatures in the fresh food section. Sometimes the damper is defective and sometimes the sensor that controls the damper movement is defective. For these reasons it is important that you provide your model numbers so someone knows just what type refrigerator you have to cover all of the possibilities of what may be wrong causing the warming of the fresh food section and soon the freezer section will also begin to warm. The most likely cause are the defrost control, ADC Adaptive Defrost Control, defrost heater, defrost thermostat, air damper and air damper sensors in that order. Let me know what you have and I will try to identify just what may be happening, Thanks Sea Breeze

Amana French Door fridge not cooling

you have a problem here
you need to get the secondary defrost kit installed
it is not the jazz board
unless he is not programming it right aftwer install
but check your back wall for frost
if you have frost you have an airflow issue
whats happening is the door is being left ajar even a 1/16 gap is an issue
when hot air enters the unit fromn the gap it condenses on the diverter behind the freezer wall
after a few weeks it builds up enought o cause problems
there is a kit you can get that will divert electrical heat to the diverter and keep it warm enough to defrost it there by never having the issue again

Frost build up behind/inside back freezer panel

I have same problem, it usually happens after someone leaves door open too long or after 4-6 months. I usually place two frozen milk jugs full of water in the upper fridge and tape the upper fridge door closed at night before bed so the kids don't open and let the upper food get warm., Unplug the fridge and open the freezer and remove all drawers (place excess frozen food in freezer in garage) , leaving the freezer open with a towel in the bottom to catch the melting water from the back panels inside and the next morning wipe the fridge bottom clean and plug it back up and replace everything. I hate that I paid so much for this fridge and have to defrost a couple times a year. However found out too late to return back to the store. It seams like it should have a cycle that heats the back plate every so often to warm and evaporate the ice that collects, but I haven't heard or can't find anything on that.

Fridge and Freezer are Warm Ice is still being made

Hi - I just had the same problem on a 48 Monogram 1996 model.
The guys at the factory told my local service center that it was the main logic board ($200 for parts) and they replaced it, but that wasn't it.
It was the evaporator sensor. i don't claim to understand it all, but I think that the sensor is responsible for telling a heating element to turn on and defrost. If it does not do it's job, then frost builds up (You can feel the frost if you feel up in the freezer, up hight and in the front)) The frost keeps the cold air from getting to the fridge. Eventually the logic unit will freak out because ti is trying to keep the fridge cold, but the fridge send back that it is hot.
The repair guy may not want to replace the sensor because it is like an hour and half to get back in there. And it is a tight fit.

Whirlpool fridge

3 things can cause this:

1) Inoperable fan in the freezer.
2) Defrost problem (frost build up on back panel in the freezer)
3) Damper inoperable (vent in the fridge section)

Look for these symptoms and let me know what you find.

Warm fridge, cold freezer

If frost in back wall of freezer it's not defrosting. This will keep cold air from getting to refig,. section. It may require a main board replacement. Or a defrost control replacement.
