On Monday morning i tried to play a game when 3 red flashing lights came on so i tried another game and it would not play or any other type of disc. Also every time i turn on my console a weird clacking noise come on.
so help me!!!
Sounds like you have fallen victim to the red ring of death, just like many unhappy xbox 360 owners (myself included). If it is still under warranty, give xbox supprt a call (you can find the number for your country at www.xbox.com) and they should arrange to repair it for free. If you are out of the warranty period, then they will rob you of some more hard-earned cash.
There are cheaper DIY solutions that involve bits of rubber and towels and whatnot, but unless you are some sort of skilled electrician it's not worth the gamble in my experience!

Hmmmnnn, consider the reason they pulled the rev compatible system off the market. It is possible to be getting the symptoms of YLOD without it actually happening with some games. The older games spun faster(sometimes) and made the system work harder. It could be heating up and shutting down right at the point of failure. I've seen 2 different revers compatible systems YLOD the same way. Good luck.
this is called the Red Light Of Death it can be caused by the following
2. hardrive coruption or needs to be reset back into the system
3. the soldering on the motherboard of the console needs to be reflowed by a local repair shop that specialisez in PS3 gaming consoles
hope this gave you some information and good luck!
Most of the times, you're going to find that this is due to over heating. If you've been playing for a while, shut down your Playstation, and let it sit for about 1 hour. It's best if the room is cooled off as well.If the room is hot, you may want to put a fan blowing toward it, or turn up your Air Conditioning.Check the back of your unit, and make sure that all of the cables are plugged in. What you're going to want to do is take out each one, and blow the inside of the ports with compressed air. To play it safe, take out the Playstation's hard drive, and place it back in.Once the 1 hour is up, and the Playstation hasn't been running, turn it back on, and see if everything is working. If it is, you're good to go! If it isn't, you may want to consult with Sony.
This is known as the yellow light of death.Similar to xbox 360 ring of death, this is normally caused from overheating from the console. If it is still under warranty contact playstation and send it back to them other wise it's about $150.00 usd to have it repaired. Here's the number 1-888-780-7690 between 6AM - 8PM (PST) Monday - Saturday and 7AM - 6:30PM (PST
Generally there are a couple of things that can cause this. Bad installs of games, and more commonly thermal damage. The bad news is it will probably have to be repaired and Sony generally charges about $150 for that. Hopefully its under warranty? =)
There is some talk that the new firmware download may have altered physical parts that control the temperature inside the unit. Although that's just heresay i've been hearing more and more people thinking this is the case.
