No color with cable

When I turn on my TV it will have color for the first 10 mins then all of a sudden the color will go out to black and white and not turn back on. When I watch a DVD or play a video game the color works fine and looks great. It only does this with cable from the wall when I get a cable box and use component cables the color will work. I know I should just get a box but this TV is for my room and I just watch DVD's on the Blu-Ray or play Xbox. The TV is a 37 in Magnavox 37mf231d/37 model.

SOURCE: Need info on component 3071 on power supply board - burned up.

Its been a while since i worked on that power board. But I believe you are refering to the orange diode that runs into the single connector for the video board next to the power supply. I replaced mine with a 1n914 diode after replacing the 2200uf lytic cap and the tv fired right up.

Why GE TV plays color DVD/VCR tapes in black and white

Some inputs on tvs won't process the color signal. Try one of the other inputs. Mine does the same. If u have already used the working ones on something else, U will need a switch to select one or the other available at Radio Shack if u can find one.

Bring it back to the place of purchase since the item is under warranty, this is a manufacture defect and you are in your perfect right to have a replacement.

JVC 32" D series TV is suddenly black and white

Wow that's interesting, was there anybody watching your home while you were gone? There is a possibility that someone simply turned down the color level with the color control? Check that first. It's an unusual symptom. With composite video, component video or HDMI it's not usually possible to experience that defect. Since the color (chrominance signal) is usually inseparable from the luminance (black and white signal) I would check the color setting first. Other wise your set has become unable to detect that color signal... I bet it's a setting rather than a defect.

There isn't a simple fix, as you have a thermistor heat related problem, but a qualified tech can fix it, and the set is not ready to be junked.

BLACK AND WHITE

Hello.

1. Have you tried to switch channel to AV or RGB on your TV?

2. Some DVD Players have internal settings for the output mode if you go into the menu and settings on the DVD.

3. If its connected to the TV via a scart cable make sure the connectors are fitted all the way into the socket on both TV and DVD

Hope this will help you with your problem.

Big black box across the screen towards the bottom.

In some TV's closed captioning can cause this problem. turn off CC and see if that helps.

Bad color

Turn the color level all the way down and see if you have a good black and white picture. If your screen isnt black and white it should have a predominate tint to it. then turn the screen control for that color down to achieve the best black and white picture. then adjust your color level that should help.
